So I bought my 2013 Express CC 5.7 last month and noticed today paint bubbles on the driver side fender. I bought it back to the dealer and they didn't seem surprised. The body shop new what it was before they even looked at it. They said it was covered and I'll have to bring it back to be fixed. As I was leaving another 2013 rolled in and had the same problem. Apparently it's sounds d deadening behind the fender that traps moisture. Just thought I would share my experience.

If the underside of the fender is holding moisture and as a result the paint bubbled, I'd like to see what's underneath the paint bubble-----rust maybe?????

I'm usuming its rust. I'll post pics when I get a chance in the daylight.. what surprised me was the fact that the dealership new what it was before they even went out to look at it. They took pics and are sending to Chrysler to determine if they will replace the fender or just have body shop do body work. Sounded like it's common. I live in upstate NY with heavy salt use, maybe southern trucks don't see this problem.

Is your truck black? Could also be solvent pop my roof had it on my 14 and the body shop said they have seen a bunch of the black vehicles have it in some shape or form either way bubbles are some sort of contamination and you have a 5 year 60k corrsion protection warranty.

Might be worth pulling the front wheel well liners to pull any sound deadening off and treat any rust that's there

The paint these trucks isn't all that great, especially the ones coming out of the Warren plant. My truck was so bad, the entire truck was repainted. The issue I had, so I was told, was the primer wasn't done right and it looked like I had a bunch of debris in the paint. Mine wasn't bubbling like the OP's but every panel on my truck had a paint flaw.........

Yep.. I live in Syracuse "go Orange!!"
We use a lot of salt but still shouldn't rust from the inside out like that.

Yeah that definitely shouldn't be rotted through after only 3 years, Syracuse winters or not...

If the insulation holds water against the metal it's going rust eventually road salt or no road salt.

I just looked at my truck. If you shine a flashlight into one of the holes in the fender support you can see the foam tape that they stuck on the back of the fender.
What engineer thought that would be a good idea??

From what I can tell you can access that part of the fender by removing the the bolts on the wheel well liner by the front door. At that point you I think can peel it back to gain access without taking the whole thing out. I'm going to try this on Saturday if I get a min and if not very soon.

This foam is coming off my fender one way or another.

I pulled the wheel well liner back to see what this foam tape looks like. If your truck has factory fender flairs this isn't going to be easy to do.

Not good news. The foam tape goes the length of the wheel well all the to the headlight. And it won't come off. I tried picking at it with my fingernail and it wouldn't budge. Got a scraper and tried to scrape it off. No go. It's like a thick, gooey super glue.

So unless someone can figure out how to get this **** off, I guess we're all going to have holes in the front fenders. Good thing we have 5yr60000mile corrosion perforation warranty.

Here's the best pic I could get of it

I wonder if you just sprayed over that with undercoating before rust starts if that would protect it.
