Hello All.

I've got some rear bumper mounted LEDs that I recently installed and am currently powering them with an auxiliary switch. I bought a diode so that I could also have them come on when I go into reverse. I have seen several different color code schemes for reverse wire coloring at the seven pin connector. Some say yellow some say purple. My yellow controls turn signals. I do not have a purple. Anyone have any idea which color is reversed?

Yes but the wire entry on the backside of the plug housing doesn't correspond with the actual pins if that makes sense. Wires are not going into the back of the plug in a circular pattern that matches the circular pin pattern of the actual terminals on the bumper side of the plug. I don't have a good way of testing each wire so I'm trying to take an easier way out so I can simply tap into the correct wire.

If I remember correctly the tail lights come out with just a couple of screws. Pull that & then see if you can see the wire coming out of the reverse lamp.

Was trying to avoid that as well as testing all of the wires going into the 7 pin. Guess I'll have to stop trying the lazy way out.

The plug into the back of the 7-pin isn't a round connector??

Normally a adapter like this is what you use in-line:
CURT 56584 Replacement Vehicle-Side Custom USCAR 5-Pin Trailer Wiring Harness https://a.co/d/7fCMULj
It's a standard plug format used by all auto manufacturers.

This will give you a 5-flat which includes reverse. The truck that have a fifth-wheel/gooseneck prep use a t-tap extension harness that plugs into the back of the 7-pin.

It is a round connector. 7 pin.

Yellow wire controls turn signals and I do NOT have a purple wire. That's where I'm confused. So it's something other than yellow or purple.

It legit takes 45 seconds to take 2 small screws out of the taillight and the light pulls right out…then look at the wire color for the reverse lights.

If your talking about this kind of LED, then I recall being under/behind the rear bumper/hitch and going after a white wire in order to enable the "white" reverse light feature of the LED. EDIT: FWIW understand mine is 4th Gen from 2017.

If you want the easy way, probe the wires with a meter till you find 12 volt when in reverse
But then you have moisture in the wires
