Just picked up my 2015 Ignition Orange 1500.I'm seriously considering a 2/4 drop for it.What can you guys tell me as far as the pro's/con's?What's the issues with CV joints, and can they be avoided?Any advice would be awesome.

Zero issues with the CVs if you only do a 2/4 kit.

Just inquiring...

Soooo... I currently have a 2/4 drop on my 4x4. I am really considering an inch lower all the way around. I know I can't really cut much off of the front due to the pig tail coil. My question is has anyone removed a .25-.50 coil from the bottom of the front coils? If so results and opinions on ride and will in cause any cv issues. If so its a no go. If in the clear I think it's going to happen. Thank you in advance for any advise

Shocks

So what is everyone doing or planning on doing for shocks on lowered 4x4? I don't need them yet but I like to have a plan. Come to think of it this may be my limiting factor with wanting to lower my truck another inch provided I could avoid cv issues. Thanks guys

Here are a couple of pix of my 14', GF 2-3 drop with 22x9.5 and 285's... air lift 1000 bag kit in the rear with on-board compressor... I would like to go lower but I like the compromise of looking much lower than stock but still being able to use it like a truck......

alright guys, another 4x4 jumping into the lowering mix here... :favorites13:

After reading through all 15 pages here, I am heavily leaning towards the Mcgaughy's 44050 kit. Looking at the kit online and what it comes with, it notes that it does not come with shocks. Do you suggest I order new shocks or keep the factory ones if they are still in good shape?

Thanks!

You may want to check into that kit. When I lowered mine I was also looking at it and heard good and bad about the spindles. I called them and they said they don't make a kit for a 4x4. So I went with ground force front mcgaughys rear level springs that I cut to achieve the stance I wanted and I utilized bell tech relocation bracket and rear sway bar endings. Total 450-500 into the kit. If I didn't have the rear springs already I would have purchased full groundforce kit. Luckily the ride is very balanced so I got away with it. To ensure my springs stay put I am putting limit straps on the rear. Only worry for me with the springs is when it's on a lift dropped so the straps will ensure nothing can move. Good luck and post picks of course!

The McGaughy's spindle kit fits the 4wd just fine, McG's just doesn't advertise it for the 4wd. The factory shocks will work on a 4" rear drop but you don't have a lot more travel in them so a shorter shock is recommended over the long term.

BigOrangeRam,,, before you buy, decide what you are going to use your truck for.. If your going to haul and tow often you will miss the suspension travel, I went with the GF kit simply because its a "one and done" kit,, I didn't like the spindle options because it moved the front rims out approx .5".. Also it sounds like if you go more than 3" in the rear you "might?" have a vibration issue and have to change out bars and bushings and other $$$$$$$... I still use my truck as a truck and even though lower would be nice I am happy with the way it looks and rides yet its still practical...

Well after a few weeks of Deric at GF not responding to my emails I ordered the Mcgaughys 44050 from Summit. Really excited to say the least, my truck has been in 4x4 stance for too long!
