I'm ordering new tires and rims and going to a 17" from my stock 20". They want to charge me 128 for the set to replace the TPMS. Cant I just pull the ones out of the stock rims and install them in the new ones?

or spend $50 on eBay and get a set.

125 to swap them is stupid.

Why would he spend money on ones from ebay ... he has ones from his old rims already that will work just fine .. no added cost

Depends, if he's keeping the 17s for a winter wheel, or to sell - i'd keep the tpms in them.

From what I found here locally, dismounting and remounting the tires runs around 100 bucks.......so its cheaper to buy new TPMS instead of paying for a dismount.

Too bad Firestone screwed us all over by making crap tires and putting them on Explorers causing us to have to have these things. Overall they are okay but still annoying always having to f with them.

if you pull the ones you have out, be very careful with the rubber stem bottom, it usually rips depening on how old they are. i work in a tire shop and about 90% of the time the bottom rips off. try and put some type of lube on there to let it slide out and unscrew the sensor from the valve before pulling out

Thats another hidden BS cost. Ive got quotes from tire shops and they charge to "set up" the TPMS. All you need to do is drive about 20 miles and they are set. I guess they are hooking up a scanner and turning the light off at a cost of 32 bucks.
