I am skeptical of these long intervals. Now Ronnie and Corey are bat**** crazy with their short oci's, but if I had to pick I would take their strategy over just never changing the fluid, which is basically what they are selling. How many of us ever put 500k on a truck?

Dealers won't do anything. It's "normal" to them. Quiet, loud, it's normal, until it's not, which is when something fails. So I just wait for a lifter to fail.

Going to do an oil change soon, send a sample off to blackstone.
Do yourself & your Hemi a favor Sir .... imho pour in the REDLINE 5W-30 with the RP Filter of your choice .... Things will likely be better than they were ......

Good luck Sir From North East Tennessee

I would not run any fluid that long in anything if someone paid me

I tend to agree. I just bought Redline from Nick for my diffs but was curious if anyone has or would run this for a normal interval.

Regarding the break-in cycle of my new differential gears that I asked about yesterday,

I’m going to follow the procedures that Mike showed me but I also wanted to ask you guys what point (miles) do you think it is OK to switch to redline differential fluid?

Both procedures said 500 miles and your good but I’m thinking I might do two cycles of 500 miles or maybe a 500 and 1000 and then switch to redline.

Been a long time since I had a wrangler regeared, but Yukon were the gears of choice. They were always American made and top shelf quality. Was only from reading recent posts I found out the Yukon I knew no longer exists.

I have always used the method that is on Randy’s Ring and pinion. I then do complete line change at 500 miles with full pan pull and wipe down inside. His method worked pretty well I did have a noisy set once but I don’t think that was procedure issues really but rather a bad set.

I'm already 6000 miles in to using Redline 5W30 with a RP 10-48 filter. Things have gotten a little better, but there is still cold start chatter and a warm tick.

Ill be honest. If i STILL had issues with redline..........i would first try a new filter. And if that did nothing, i hate to say it but i would seriously go straight to PYB and try additives.

I know we are not fond of additives much but you just tried the top of the line base stock with a boat load of moly and it still is not right. There is not much room for improvement (that we can find yet) so i would start experimenting.

Liqui moly makes 2 in particular that I’m interested in. The ceramic one and the lifter additive.
