Syn's house 8 pm tonight, everyone's invited. Does your wife have a sister, if so bring her?

Well guys, I hit 1500 miles today on SyN's fantastic PUP mix. My truck is still whisper quiet on cold starts and at hot idle. So I'm calling this a success for quieting a noisy Hemi. I believe the key here is the SRT 0w40. It adds the two things I'm convinced quiet Hemi's: high moly count and added film strength over 20wt. PUP 5w30 by itself may quiet it however it runs pretty thin for a 30wt. Maybe as SyN mentioned before PUP 10w30 would be a better choice if you're not too far north.

If my next UOA comes back with less copper than the last one, I'll be using PUP going forward with some percentage being the SRT 0w40.

So, who thinks I should just dump 7 quarts of SRT 0w40 in next time

I think you should do 7ea of the 0W-40 PUP , That's probably what I'll do if I have steller results with the 4ea 40wt & 3ea 30 wt pup.
Oh , not only copper also keep an eye on the iron as well .

So whay type of 5w30 are you guys running I dont get all the aberrations your using.
I have my first free oil change in my truck right now but am making a road trip to the east coast and back at the end of the month so I should be getting pretty close for a oil change when I get back and what to switch over to synthetic.
At the end of August I will be going to California and back so I want good oil in it for the trip.

Thanks

I am thrilled You had success Hemi with the Combo!
I will be going with the full case of SRT 0W-40 & 1 Qt PUP 5W-30 for the summer OCI! Even though in July or august I will be looking again for my ideal 6.7L CTD!

Will be sending my current OC in for a UOA even though not many miles will be driven!
Yes I will post the results! Will be very interesting to see & show others if I am a full blown **** or an Old Genius!

Anyway I am enjoying the evening smoking ribs & a cold beverage!

My top 3:
1. Red Line 5W-30
2. Pennzoil Ultra Platinum (PUP) 5W-30
3. Pennzoil Platinum (PP) 5W-30

PUP is hard to find: Amazon is a good source.

I would very easily put Schaeffers 5W-30 #2 ---> But its so hard to find & a bit expensive.

Have read some of this thread but its long..lol

I am just thinking if I start putting better oil in it right away I might not ever get a tick in the first place.

When I get back from my trip I will round up some Red line ( how many quarts does a Hemi hold) and a filter with the anti drain back feature, so whats the top three on them..lol

thanks for the info.

Alright guys, I just bought the wife a Durango with the 5.7. My question is, should I run an oil change of PYB through it to flush then go Amsoil SS 5-30 like my Ram, or straight to the Amsoil? She currently has 832 miles on it, so I was planning around the 1k/1250 range.

Oh and the Catch Can is on its way already!

Ha ha , I was gonna say OCC first , well done !

I'd run the factory fill for 1000 -1500 miles , then I'd pour in PYB myself for an oci then go with the Amsoil SS 5W-30 .

The OCC comment was for you! I knew you'd ask! LoL

Ok that's what I was thinking, regular Fram filter OK for that PYB flush?

Also, how long would you guys run the PYB?? Full 3000??

Most folks run the Billet Technologies OCC here , and I belive it can be purchased from a vendor here Moe's Performance.

I have the Elite Engineering OCC on my Ram & a BT on the wife's Challenger.

AFM: Glad to see ya back!

Just a suggestion: Nothing More
Run FF to 1K miles
Run next OCI to 3K
Run next OCI to 5K
Run next OCI to 10K

Then follow OLM or follow your own set OCI!
Switching to a synthetic @ the 10K mile mark.

Got my BT from Moe's. Fast shipping and good price. Easy to install and easy to empty. Well worth it to keep the byproducts where they belong.
