Before I drove my ram off the dealership lot they told me that I had 2years of Free oil changes. Which equals out too 4!
I made a point too ask them what oil & viscosity do they use when They do they’re 6.7L CTD service.
I was instructed they exclusively use Shell Rotella T6 5W-40.
Steven took me back into the back & showed me the 2 pallets.
During the Summer OCI I will add 4oz of ZDDPlus too help add some extra Zinc/Phosphorus.
Just for a little extra piece of mind while towing.
I was at one moment going to run Delo 400LE 5W-40.
But overnight local Walmart took it off the shelf and replaced it with more space for the T6 and Amazon just unexpectedly quit selling it. (Maybe to make room for this new weaker oil, which hadn’t arrived yet).
The old 400LE 5W-40 version shows Unavailable.
Amazon now shows the weak A$$ CK-4/SN version which is very low in Zinc/Phosphorus (No Thanks)!
Beware New Diesel owners: These CK-4/SN Oils will state in fine print——->(suitable for gasoline engines!)—->Which means this oil has Zinc/Phosphorus levels below 1K ppm.
Due to its very low ZDDP levels no harm will come to the catalytic converters (gasoline engines).
Which most of us know there have been many gasoline oils used for 20 some yrs with well over 1K ppm of ZDDP & many owners have reported No issues with their converters.
Your average owners won’t have a clue or for that matter not even care!
I’m not your Normal Owner.
I might just avoid this whole mess & begin stocking up on the 9000 5W-40 for my first & future OCI. It’s only $3 more then the T6 on Amazon.
Dam! Did it again! Thanks Fellas got me thinking now I changed my mind! But no more worries about the SN crap.
