being as the subject is about the future of Energy , it also includes the Air we Breathe & What we Eat

Most of us used PAPER Bags when we went shopping, it was also used as fire starter in your back yards
If you bury a paper bag, chances are good that a year later, the bag will be gone, it is great for Composting.

Some Group convinced the Gov'ts that PLASTIC was much better.
sure it can used more that ONCE :)
Bury it in the ground, it takes at least 12 years to Break down, it never fully decomposes, it just breaks up into smallish pieces, just right for wild life, especially FISH & Birds to eat, then we eat Fish & possibly Game birds.
It does not do any good to either bury it, or to lay it out where the Sun can shine on it & break it down into small particles quickly.
We have to pay TEN Cents a plastic bag & it is basically useless once you take it home.
There ought to be a Law that all plastics should be melted down & molded into Park Benches, etc.
By the way, how many BIRDS NESTS are built with Plastic in them ?
Rodents are not as smart.

BY THE WAY
Plastics will soon be against the Law to be manufactured as Grocery Bags, it will go back to Paper for shopping bags.

When we pollute the Earth, we go to jail
When the Gov't does it, they just tell us, that they might have made a Mistake.

Just like what happened when they ruined everyone's Health.
The UNITED STATES Ground Water hazardous pollution was caused by our USA Gov't, when they forced Gasoline formulation to be changed :
Methyl tert-Butyl Ether ( MTBE )

Is MTBE harmful to humans?

Breathing gasoline with MTBE may cause headaches, nausea or vomiting, dizziness, a feeling of spaciness, and coughing in humans.

A growing number of studies have detected MTBE in ground water throughout the country; in some instances these contaminated waters are sources of drinking water. Low levels of MTBE can make drinking water supplies undrinkable due to its offensive taste and odor.

Now they are in the process of shoving EVs down out collective throats.
Like that RUN AWAY EV just this week !!!!

Hard pass. Plastic recycling is a scam created by marketing teams looking to convince you plastic has an environmentally friendly outcome, and such a law would create more issues than is solved, and at taxpayer expense. Like paper straws, it is misguided even if many proponents have good intentions.

If there was only one kind of plastic, it would be more viable, but there are so many types (and often on the same product) that it's nearly impossible to recycle correctly.

It has to be washed because any contamination ruins the batch, sorted (by humans, machines aren't smart enough to sort properly) so like materials are recycled together, then you have to put in more energy and resources than it's worth, and the final product is of worse quality and higher toxicity than just making new plastic...which is also cheaper to do than to recycle.

*If* you're concerned about single use plastic, the only viable choice is to reduce consumption. Use reusable grocery bags, etc.

Well i live in California & i drive across the USA in July of each year to get to Connecticut.
Both California & Connecticut have mandated Plastic Grocery bags.
I know for sure, that California Statute states that Ten Cents per Grocery Bag must be paid to the Grocery Store.
Some hardware & Drug stores also charge for Plastic bags.

I thought that they would return to PAPER, but it looks like they are thinking that they should change the Statute to read that the Plastic bags Must be RECYCLABLE

Before or after like 40 people froze to death from lack of power, lol? lol at gov not the deaths.

Wrong, it was 246 deaths, oops. Yeah, lets convert all texas gas vehicles to EV? really?
Actually, after the 3 day Texas deep freeze in 2011, recommendations to winterize the Texas grid were made but ignored by the Republican blowhards in Austin. So ten years later, another big ice storm setted in only longer. Because gas plants were not winterized, they shut in supply, tripping out generation. This doesn't happen in North Dakota, where they spend the money to winterize equipment. Not only is Austin inept, the jerks don't want to connect to the rest of the US grid, leaving most of Texas vulnerable. El Paso was fine, as they tie in electric power to New Mexico next door. We are fed up with the idiot incompetent Republican dolts in Austin and moved from Waco to Bend Oregon. They know how to keep the lights on.

Thanks for keeping politics out of it. Maybe there are other mitigating factors than simple political affiliation. Since ND is one or the reddest states in the nation your comparison doesn’t seem to hold much electric value.

How is plastic made? Hmm

If you dont want to use it as a filler, burying it or in other words returning it to where it came from, is a perfectly fine way of disposing it. However, dumping it in the ocean I am not in favor of, like zero percent cool those countries that do that, the same countries we send money to thanks to paris accords.

Plastics are high molecular weight organic polymers composed of various elements such as carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulphur and chlorine. They can also be produced from silicon atom (known as silicone) along with carbon; a common example is silicone breast implants or silicone hydrogel for optical lenses.

There is another name for chlorine as well = salt

An entire political movement was centered around recycling, I will let you figure out which one, back then plastic wasnt in use. So it was recycling of cans, yeah team cant we all get behind that? Sadly, those people morphed recyclables with non recyclables, IE plastic. So these people "refuse" to accept facts, which maybe a good thing? I mean keep trying buttercup? Get back up on the horse, we all can get behind that?

However, these same people who tax the living hell out of plastic and promise it to not be a tax, but rather incentive to encourage recycling. Now literally dump 80% of all plastic recycled into wait for it, the dump, as in the ground. Recycled plastic is just a small percent of all plastic which of course goes into the ground. Look up assembly bill 793 if you dont believe me. Yeah, those people you send all that climate chnage money, banned the imports of plastic for recycling in 2018, lmao. You cant make this stuff up. So since we "depended" on china for recycling, now all of it goes into the ground 219 Olympic swimming pools worth per day just in one state. So if you think of it as a problem, trust me sunshine it is a problem with no solution. If you think of it as returning a harmless thing back to where it came from., then not only will this be the truth, you will be happier form it. The real sad part is those people that look at this like a problem, because it will mean spending billions if not trillions of your money to still not solve it.

Here ya go...So most plastic — in fact, almost all of it — ends up in landfills: plastic forks and knives, coffee cups and takeout boxes, used cosmetics, styrofoam trays, and most kinds of plastic bags, from shopping bags to those used for frozen peas.
