It’s amazing what a few feet and the right angles do lol. Take a couple steps and the rear wheel well bubbles start showing...

Why was it such a chore to put in the 5100's?
O Lord lol a nightmare. Seized bolts is why. Lower strut bolt will almost garaunteed be seized and also pitted and seized inside the bushing... once you tackle that debacle your gunna have seized upper strut bolts lol. If I had a saw to cut through the strut rod I woulda done that but didn't have a blade that fit through the coil. Ended up having to weld tacs onto the rod (see pic) to have some bite to lock some serious snap on pipe grippers to the rod so I could keep it from spinning while pounding the SH $T outta the upper strut nut with a air impact on highest setting. Beat the hell outta my hands and wrists holding onto the rod through that lol, and that disaster is all after you finally manage to break apart your lower bolt [emoji23]. It sucked f985174633515befc008eb4bf9a6aeb2.jpg

looking at the threads on it, it almost looks as if it was cross threaded when it was put on prior to that

Brakes are gonna be due for me soon, too. They squeal when I inch forward and gently brush the brake pedal at a stop.

Gonna go EBC yellowstuffs with their gd sport rotors, metal brake line conversion, dot 4 fluid with serviceable cylinders, line locks, and possibly a hydro booster from a cummins.

Well spent 10 hours tearing down my replacement motor that will be going into my black reg cab soon

I went through the entire motor and checked everything out, replaced all gaskets, replaced all sensors, new water pump, thermostat, deep cleaned the entire motor, and pretty much going through everything i can with a fine tooth comb trying to make this thing be as close to a bran new engine as it can be, and when im done it will be almost as clean as one too!

How it started

And all the progress pictures...

Pulled off the water pump that was on it and the cooling system was clean as can be, but i replaced it anyways and got rid of the pump with a plastic impeller and put on one with a metal impeller

All grease and dirt has been removed, the heads are a really nice shiny aluminum, once fully assembled im gona go through and see if incant polish the valve covers and as much of the motor as possible to try and get more of that original new shine out of it...

Had to replace a ball joint that was giving up. Those rock lights came in handy for something.
