I know I say this to much but the only way I would ever do a 1500 swap was if it was for a 12 valve. (can you tell that is my favorite engine?) Like others said it is MUCH easier to buy a 2500 w/ CTD. If you have the time and resources to do the swap it would be amazing, just most people dont have the time to go w/o a truck for that long.

as to the rolling coal, I love rolling coal every now and then. Nothing like blacking out some ricer who has been on your ass for a few miles. But every time I go to the track and see a truck on EFI live and there is no smoke and he takes off it makes me want that. when you smoke that is just diesel coming out without being used to create power. when you first get the truck all you will want to do is smoke it though, I was doing that at first then my wallet told me to drive it like a normal person.

How about this: get the 2500 cummins single can long bed and just get the frame shortened and get a short bed and VIOLA! :D

But see, if I'm gonna get a new truck, that I pick. It's either gonna be a mega cab or quad cab. It'd just not be the same. You know?

This is just a thought. I would love to do this. But if you guys say it's a waste, then it must be a waste.

It's only a waste if you think it's a waste.

I would do it if it was down the road when you have another vehicle. Kinda as a project truck, I think it would be pretty badass and custom

I don't think it's a waste, I was gonna try to make it into a "bullydog" race truck, by racing it. Or show it off, clean it up, make it look nice

What about a 4bt ? Not an expert so no idea if is still worth to go with difference truck w/ CTD. There is a 300c that did a 4bt swap w/ manual trans and read it had about 400ftlb tq.

I think was a base base model and pretty good considering the tq peak and he hooked up a chevy manual stick.
Found a thread which the poster said the owner indicated that on a safe tune it got 600 rwtq and 220 rwhp. Those numbers for a 4bt looks weird imo but who knows.
