Here's a pic I grabbed this morning... It isn't low profile, obviously, but looks good to me.

Those look good. Makes me reconsider the low profile ones and just do these since they wouldn't require any painting. Thanks!

i just installed the 4001 rings. i dont see how these things will hold any meaningful tension. they clamp to the plastic rail cover. there is no contact with the bed itself as far as i can tell. just pulling on it with my finger causes the whole cap to flex and pull up with the ring.

Yea I was checking the other day and the metal is no where near the hole opening. I Dont feel the clamp reaches far enough to grab the metal and even then the metal has a smooth curve so doubt it would grip it. After feeling that I decided against the bull rings

don't they claim that each one is good for 1,000lbs?

thats what the package says. no way it will ever come close to that by just attaching to the rail cap. havent decided if ill keep them just as covers for the holes or send them back. at $24 im not out much. now i know why the instructions are very clear to not over tighten, you'll probably bend the plastic on the caps you're clamping on to.

my bad, just checked again. the price is about $14 for 4 covers and $10 shipping. Altho we only have 2 holes lol... not a bad deal to have spares for down the road.

I agree tho, functionality is nice.

i wonder if they fit if you have the factory bedrails... anyone know?

I have the factory bed rails and I verified it woukd literally just clamp to the plastic rail cover and do diddly squat if u tried to tie anything down .

I'm sure they would be able to handle 100lbs if they clamped to actual metal but on my express and the bighorns At the dealer the rears holes are way to large for it to clamp to metal.

I trimmed the plastic inside the hole for the clamp to hit steel in the rear holes. Works with my Truxedo cover.

how much of the plastic did you have to trim before you found metal? and you did that on rear holes? you posted a pic of your front ring by the cab.

I can't remember for sure. I stuck my finger down and around the plastic...1/4" maybe? Don't remember if I had to do the fronts..just took a utility knife to do it.

You need to cut out the 'inner circle' right on the line in the REAR stake pockets. This will allow the bullring to connect with the steel and not just the bedcap.

The front 'lines' are a bit oversized. Recommend you start small in the center and work your way out to the steel.

WATER: Not a concern on 4th Gens as it exits the bullring and drops straight down to the street, outside of your bed area. (Front or rear, no water enters the bed.)

RATTLE: They rattled like a sumbitch while laying loose in my front seat before I installed them. After installation, can't hear any rattling. Maybe if I rode in the bed, I might hear them, but nada while in the cab.

Thanks for the info. On the site they suggest the router to open up the holes (atleast for the flush mount version), would you suggest the same?

ah, i see. thank you. guess ill have to take a knife to my 3 week old '15. odd that is not part of their install instructions. you'd think they'd mention that little bit of pretty important info.

One can manage without a router, but naturally, a router with the special bits would be slick! (I don't have a router, so ,,,,,)

Someone should post pics of the install of the bull rings. I can't see how the metal is available for mounting as its soooo far away From the plastic opening at the rear of the truck.

The info is on the Bull Rings website, but I imagine they do not put it on the actual 'one size fits most' model packaging as it fits many different trucks,,,

Dodge Videos

good grief, that is an involved install. im certainly not going to go spend money on a router to use once to install a $24 part. :flipthebird: i do have a dremel but i think i'd have better control with a utility knife. maybe if i get motivated, ill take a stab at it this weekend

Figured i would follow up. i just reinstalled them and when attached to metal, they are much stronger.

i didnt cut out the whole pocket, just notches where the bull ring clamps on. one box cutter and 20 min later, both were installed.
