2009-2015 Factory Door Speaker Perfect Replacement (6x9)

Well I received the Kicker DS693's for Christmas with the intention of putting them in the front doors of my 2012 RAM 1500 Regular Cab. Come to find out, the speakers were way too deep to fit into he factory location.:homoswitch: I decided to replace the rear speakers with the DS (Which wasn't much of a difference because of the weird no-bass crossover set to the rears). After much research, I found what I believed to be the perfect speaker. At 2 7/8" depth, the Alpine SPR-69's were basically the same size as the stockers. Sonic Electronix was having a sale on them for $110, but I had existing credit which allowed me to get them for under $50.:peace: I was amazed when I placed the Alpine and stocker side by side, seeing that they were basically the exact same size.:naughty: I was even more amazed at the increase in sound quality.:happy107: The mids and trebs are excellent and the bass output rattles all three rear-view mirrors like crazy. Definitely planning on investing in sound deadening material though, as the door panels rattle when the bass level is maxed out. Other than that, I am extremely satisfied with the Alpine SPR-69's and also Sonic Electronix. Their amazing prices along with fast shipping cause me no complaints. Anyone wanting to upgrade their factory 6x9's should absolutely invest into these. The price of these speakers fluctuates every few weeks, depending on the company's inventory. If you want to save a few bucks, be patient and wait for a price that appeals to you and is budget friendly.:High 5:

P.S. Sorry for no pictures of the Alpines installed; it was dark when I installed them and I have been too busy to take the door panels off, but I assure you they fit perfectly just like the stockers.

P.P.S. This is my first post so bear with me on any mistakes...

EDIT 2 years later: Added some pics of the Alpines mounted. They're still going strong after all the cranked up tunes. :peace:

Nice! Welcome to the forum! I've been going back and forth between those, or some 6.5's component set up in the front.

How do those compare to the factory option of the Alpine 10 speaker system?

Not entirely sure as I've never heard a factory Alpine system. The bass wouldnt stack up to the stock Alpine system (I am assuming it has a sub, please forgive my ignorance). I've got them running off the p.o.s. head unit and they sound great. I'm anxious to put in my Sony XAV-63 and a four channel amp to really get the tunes crankin'.

I actually ran with DS 6.5 Coax with adapter brackets in the front for several weeks. The 6x9's obviously provide a more significant low end, but if you have a sub(s) then that factor is less significant. Coming from my previous vehicle (2007 Jeep Wrangler with high caliber sound system), I'm kind of burnt out on all the boom boom, and I'm only 18. Granted I do ike the occasional thump, I prefer a more balanced and refined sound system. My plan is to run with the Alpine SPR-69's until I cave in and either amp them or add some subs.

I was totally searching for something that would be almost stock size too, I have Kicker Ks35's in the dash, but with a sub and aftermarket deck the stock door speakers sound like crap IMO. Totally going to pick a couple pairs of these up... plus some matting.

Nice! I wasn't looking at an audio upgrade as being on my near future mod list but now that I have the 18" magnaflow, I might use that (almost unnoticeable) cab drone as an excuse to do a little music volume enhancement :rockit:

I went with the Alpine SPE 6090's F/R in my 12' Express, over the R's cause of a significant sale at time of purchase. they made a good improvment in my audio even off of the OEM HU.

how do they sound amp'd without the use of a sub ??? do the front speakers still provide solid boom for a door speaker ???

Im considering a small amp such as the Alpine KTP-445U ( no major wiring required )

Pretty new to audio and just looking to upgrade the door speakers with amp but unsure what type of amp would be sufficient enough to power these type-r alpines? I also wanted to ask if these would fit in all four doors, I have a 12' Express Quad cab, thanks for your help in advance.

Yes these will fit in all four doors. They're rated for 200 RMS per pair so a true 400-500 RMS four channel would do you good. I've got them running off a Sony XAV-63 HU for now and I cannot complain.

Cool !! Feeling lazy and might just go with the stock HU and add an amp/sub/these speakers in the door!! Good to know they fit!

Anyone know if these fit into a 2013 CC Big Horn with no mods? I'm getting conflicting information and would like to confirm with someone before ordering.

thanks!
