Thanks, I have the 5.7 and when I go to Ram Connect and go to learn -> equipment -> optional equipment it does list the 32 gallon fuel tank and farther down it also lists 5 additional gallons of gas. I just find it odd that the gauge and low fuel indicator would come on when I should have around 7-8 gallons left in the tank. I could see not registering 1-2 gallons as a reserve or due to mechanical limitations of the sending unit but 7-8 gallons seems a bit excessive.
Sorry to bump an old thread for my first post, but I'm trying to learn all I can about the beast I've bought and grown to love in the last couple of months.
I, too, have wondered whether I got screwed on the size of the fuel tank or if Ram just provides an overly generous margin of safety. Apparently it's the latter. 27 gallons is the most I've put in the tank, and that was after a puckeringly long ride after the low fuel light came on!
The Mopar site and window sticker show my 2016 Ram 2500 Tradesman Crew Cab 4x4 to have a 31-gal tank, AND "5.2 Additional Gallons of Gas". It really stood out to me that it read like that. It didn't say it had a 5.2-gal, larger fuel tank. It didn't say it had a 5.2-gal, auxiliary tank. It says, "5.2 Additional Gallons of Gas". I was looking for a jerry can in the bed! So, what the heck exactly does that mean? Anyway?
btw, great forum. Glad to be here.
