UConnect Software Update Received--What's in it?

I'll down load this now and then install today. I quickly asked the dealer about this when leaving my "vibration in the wheel" appointment and they made it out to be a HUGE undertaking of setting up and having the owner make a req. Excited to see how the new kicker speakers will sound as I got my truck with the bad firmware.

So if I had bass set at +1 last August, I would find a setting of -1 to be about the same?
If so, not bad since I'm at -6 right now.

What did it do to your treble setting? Did you have to turn that down after updating to software ver. 22.6?
Right now I have my treble at +6.



The volume control on the voice assistant being fixed is awesome. Hopefully, it will fix the (similar) volume problem when using Google Android Auto as well.

I should be experiencing all this goodness in about four hours!

Sad. The file Grimm posted, isn’t working.

I extracted the zip. Which made a folder, put the contents of that folder to the root of the usb, formatted fat32. I can try from a win10 box instead. Sometimes ford sync’s don’t like OS X formatted drives

I will see if I can get the other UAQ file using the VIN I received this week unless someone else does first. IDK if the UAQ will get v21.9, 22.5, or 22.6 with that TSB update (I honestly think it's just 21.9 again but hope not)

Mpgrimm, you sir are my damn hero! Cant thank you enough for posting that file. I can finally hear my upgraded kicker speakers!! I feel like a little kid on Christmas! Hopefully i dont blow speakers out now!

Ok day 2 of trying to get sw updated on my UAQ. Dealer failed again today and spoke with Chrysler and found that it is a problem with the security file being expired. The sw sees this and won’t install. In my case it expired as of 3/16/19. They said Chrysler is aware and will issue another sw at some point in the future. I asked why they think it is acceptable for my 45k dollar truck to have a crap radio with the only fix to be we know and eventually we will fix it... maybe. His response was to call Chrysler. This is unacceptable and I am so glad I was inconvenienced to have to take my truck in 2 days in a row for nothing.

-Do you have a UAS radio?

-Format the file as fat32

-Extract/unzip the zip file directly to the USB with the Vp4r_ update folder and it's contents as is. Don't move the items out of the folder (if that's what you did)

Ah so the vp folder is supposed to be on root. I’ll retry.

Look and see what applucation version you have now. My screen said exactly the same thing but it upgraded to the new software. I'd be willing to bet you have 22.6 installed already. I think that screen is just a fluke.

Well, I have good news and I have bad news. I have the UAS radio.

The good news is I've got ver. 22.6




The GOOD NEWS is that the stereo sounds A LOT better. I will have to tweak the subwoofer crossover and bass gain controls to get it dialed in. But it's sounding much, much better. I have my tone controls set at:

Bass -1 (before software update was -6)
Mid +1
Treble +1 (before software update was +6)


The BAD NEWS is that the voice search function for song titles is screwed. If I say, "Play song, Magical Mystery Tour", (Cheap Trick version) the truck replies, "You have several songs named Magical Mystery Tour. Which artist do you want?" And on the screen I see:

1. Cheap Trick
2. Tina Turner

If I tap on Cheap Trick I hear the truck say, "Playing the song Magical Mystery Tour" but it actually plays the song, "Ain't that A Shame", which happens to be the eighth song listed on the Cheap Trick album.

If I tap on Tina Turner I hear the truck say, "Playing the song Magical Mystery Tour" but it actually plays the song, "Way of the World", which happens to be the second to last song on the Tina Turner album.


So I try it again.

Me: "Play the song "Money for Nothing"".
Truck: "You have several songs named Money for Nothing. Which artist do you want?"

And on the screen I see:
1. Aretha Franklin
2. Dire Straits

If I tap on Aretha Franklin I hear the truck say, "Playing the song Money for Nothing" but it actually plays the song, "Angel", which happens to be the third to last song listed on the Aretha Franklin album.

If I tap on Dire Straits I hear the truck say, "Playing the song Money for Nothing" but it actually plays the song, "Brothers in Arms", which happens to be the last song on the Dire Straits album.

ARRRGGGHHHHH!!

Other voice commands to the USB stick seem to work, "Play artist ___________"
Other voice commands seem to work, "Tune to FM radio 92.5"
"Dial number 952-888-8888"
etc.

I tried unplugging the USB stick and putting it in the other USB slot. Same problem with selecting and playing songs by voice command.

CStan, if possible, can you try using voice command on your truck and report back?

Pulled the drive and all seems well. Audio sounds better but didn’t test text notifications yet.

As soon as I get a chance I sure can bud. So it wasn't my imagination that it was still bass heavy. It does sound SO MUCH better though doesn't it?

I did notice a bug earlier that won't let me "speak to text" a reply to a text message. I rarely use anything on my infotainment system other than the Sirius xm so I'm kind of a noob on the rest of the features. I just connected my bluetooth to it to make sure it functioned.

Ugh crap. I use speak to text a lot.... however Bluetooth vs CarPlay could be different

I dont remember exactly how it sounded, i put the kickers in a week b4 the update, and the dash resistors after the update. All i know is its 100xs better. Ill test other **** later. 4 now, im very grateful

FYI for those that ran the UAS 22.6 update & notice any glitches...
It may be worthwhile after it finishes the update to do a power reset by either disconnecting the battery or pulling the inline radio fuse (20A) near the brake booster.
One of the early 13-17 Ra4 updates had a bad camera image until the reset was done afterwards.

I updated my 2018 2500 8.4c UAS this morning with the 22.6 update. The install was clean with no errors or issues as all. The audio sounds so much better it's ridiculous. It's nice to have my radio back and sounding good again!

I haven't noticed anything amiss yet, but I'll report back if I do. BTW I had a 2GB flash drive handy so that's what I used, I deleted the existing contents and reformatted it to FAT32, extracted it to the drive and it updated fine. Not sure whether one really needs a 16GB drive, for whatever reason my 2GB drive worked. It was formatted on my Dell Latitude Windows 10 Pro laptop.
