What trim model do you have? Even if you did may have hit the lock button on the door, if you’ve got keyless ignition and/or the passive entry system, you should not be able to lock yourself out of your truck if the key is anywhere inside the cab of the vehicle.
I verified it for another guy on another thread last night with my truck and for both times I tried it, if I try to leave my key in the cab and lock it with the interior door lock, as soon as the door closes it honks two or three times, flashes the four-ways, and unlocks the driver door. Did this twice in a row. However, I did not try this when it was running and nor did I remote start the truck, unlock it, throw the key on the seat and wait to see if the truck relooked itself.
I have however noticed that if I have to go out to my truck to get something out of it that if I forget to lock it back up, it’ll lock itself. But this is with no key in the truck, though.
