Trying to decide between a full hard tonneau cover and a good tool box. Problem is, I'm not sure what good quality boxes fit in this size bed, due to the clearance of the wheel wells.

Would rather have a low-profile crossover, or a trunk-style. Any of you have them in your 5.7 beds?

I have the Undercover classic hard tonneau cover on mine. The previous owner had put it on, and I liked it so I just kept it. I had a low profile toolbox in the Chevy that I had before I got my Ram, so I needed a place to store all my tools and random crap. I put some of it in the in-floor storage compartments (crew cab) and I got two Undercover Swingcase toolboxes that fit under the tonneau and sit above the wheel wells. I like it because you can swing them out (hence the name) and push them back and they pop back into place when you’re done with them. Not exactly the cheapest things out there, but they are perfect for what I needed them for.

Can't help you much with a low pro, but my full size weatherguard fits perfectly. If I didn't have the rack it would be almost kissing the wheel wells, but would still fit.

Could you post a picture of what your rack and box look like in your truck? Thanks.

I've had tool boxes for years,I went with a bed cover that rolls to open, its the american tonneau roll one.Best thing ever, have full use of truck bed as it rolls into a 8" x 8" box.Golf clubs, cart etc is safe. Was expensive but worth it as it is really tough.Mind you I still have a tool box on the f-150 work truck as it has racks. Its a weatherguard and is very good.

I had a bakflip with a bakbox before the Weatherguard went on. The bakbox ended up getting destroyed by our ****** back "roads". Also managing tools and what not was a pain since it's not all that heavy duty (The bakbox). I was going to get undercover swing cases, but some local guys had issues with them breaking and getting rattled to death like the bakbox. I've seen similar things on the ford forums from raptor owners so it just seems they don't like being off road too much.

I like the traditional box a lot better even though I have to give up bed space for it and in hind sight should've been what I went with from the get go. Worse case now I have to hitch up to one of the utility trailers to move something, but worth the trade off for me.

On that last picture, would you have to remove the tonneau cover before you could get into the box or does the tonneau fold up vertically at the front edge of the box?

would just have to fold it up. Not sure if I'll get a tool box or not yet. Gonna see how I like the soft fold tonneau first. Of course, the soft tonneau is pretty easy to take off, so I could have the box underneath, as well. Not sure yet.

The fiberglass Leer I have takes a couple of people to take it off. Also if you wanna carry anything over about 20" tall it won't latch. I think they look better than the soft covers but they are not really functional if you use your bed much.

Agreed... thought about one of those, but I do use my bed pretty frequently.
