I've been running a Mufflex DOD-M80 muffler delete since last November (it was the first mod I did after buying the truck). After installing the muffler delete, I had a hell of a time getting the tailpipes to line up to the bumper cutouts. I got the tips pretty close and just went with it. Well, a few weeks ago, I finally got around to getting some better tips. I bought some polished 5" double wall tips from B2 Fabrication. I wanted double wall because I don't like the looks of the single wall tips. When the tips got delivered, I got all excited and attempted to install them. I pulled the old tips off and discovered that the clamp is spot welded to the flange on the tip. I tried using my terrible Chinese rotary tool with a cutoff wheel to cut the weld so I could reuse the clamps. I failed miserably. I could not get it to cut through the weld. So I ended up ordering 2 new Mopar exhaust clamps ($22 each!
). When I went to install the tips back on the truck, the passenger side would not tighten up no matter how tight I made the clamp. The driver's side went back on without any issues but now the back of my truck looks like Forrest Whitaker because the passenger side droops
.
I should finally have time tomorrow to install the tips using the new clamps. I'll have to mess with the tailpipes so the tips are aimed straight out from the bumper.
I'll get pics
