Kicking around the idea of picking up a 2020 ecodiesel. Of course that means sending my truck packing but it's tempting. I drive a lot of miles so wondering if it would be beneficial. I hear it gets great milage also.

Seriously though the 5.7 w/o the etorque is getting 24-27mpg on the highway. I know I am. 18 in the city.

I was looking at an EcoDiesel as well, but the articles I found about the timing chain issues at about 70K miles and the fire issues pushed me to the 5.7. I am sure those issues may have been addressed in the 2020 though.

Yeah I understand that. I seriously haven't found anything I dislike about my 20 except that I can't dim the radio light but I think everyone is saying that and has said it since 2010. I haven't found anything that I want to mod on this truck either. Its a bighorn lvl 2

I need a new truck like a hole in the head my truck is less than 3 years old but local dealer is about 10k off sticker and .9% for 84 so I'm intrigued lol. If it applied to the trx I'd place my order but no need to spend 100k on a truck. There are some things I know now since owning a ram that will be a must on a new one if if decide.

What timing chain issues? There have been almost nill for timing issues despite all the ranting from Shawn that they would all come apart.
There is lots of EcoDs well past the 100K mark without any timing or turbo issues (the other rumour of failure at 100K miles).

This is an old article, but the one I was referring to:

https://carbuzz.com/news/why-new-ecodiesel-owners-need-to-beware-of-engine-failure

and it looks like the fire recall only ran through 2019 model year.

The EcoDiesel seems like a very attractive option in the 1/2 ton platform. I would still love to scoop one up if they have worked out the kinks.

I hope you do get a gen 5. They ride so much smoother than the gen 4. Those encenitves are very interesting and would definitely peak my curiosity especially if the truck meets all the criteria.

We will see how it plays out. Wish my wheels would work on a 5th gen o well.

Thats one thing that was aggravating to me as well. There's more choices in 5 lug than 6 and 5 lug look better IMO

Would the eco diesel be for fuel mileage purposes? Just wondering where your heads at a 2500 5th gen with aftermarket bumpers look mean.

we are on track for fuel prices to soar. But I’m sure there will be government incentives to buy a power wheels I mean an electric vehicle. Then those prices will triple because you will be forced to join a ride share service.

Also keep in mind that when gas prices go up, diesel prices go up even more. I can still clearly remember diesel being $4.80 a gallon back in 2008(gas was $3.99) I'm sure we are in store for more of the same in the next few years. I'm not looking forward to $130 fillups again.

Are you talking about dimming the screen on the 8.4 or one of the ******** 12" screens? Because you can dim the 8.4 with the cab light dimmer. Unless that's not what you mean.
