I told him how much of a ************* he was, in front of the cop. But it doesn't matter, because he will keep doing the same **** untill someone is seriously injured.
I'm surprised he didn't drive off.

Here in Houston, in certain neighborhoods virtually every car has fake paper plates, no registration sticker, no insurance, no inspection, and if they hit you they just drive off as you can't tell who they are from the fake plate.

HPD does nothing about this and if you phone it in they'll even just tell you that's an insurance matter not a police matter, and the chief a while back even admitted on local news that about 80% of the paper plates are either completely fake or paid for by certain dealerships that will sell them fraudulently for a small fee to anyone that asks, even though its only meant for newly sold vehicles. Most of the vehicles you see there have at least some body damage, as they just drive them GTA style. Insurance companies know its wasted time and effort to pursue them, so will just get you for your deductible and take no action against the uninsured driver, because even if they get a verdict in their favor the uninsured driver would never show up to court or pay and the courts simply don't care to enforce the law against those types as they apply the "no blood from a stone" rule and it just costs them time and money to incarcerate.
But these types know essentially nothing will be done to them.
I wouldn't mind bringing public caning over like they have in Singapore for habitual offenders. There's a reason its the lowest crime major city in the world, as it costs almost nothing, shames the criminal, and offers entertainment and sense of justice to the victims that get a good show.

Yeah it’s ********. I was hit by a drunk driver 3 times over the limit. Totalled my car. Almost killed me (head one doing 60) and he was prohibited from driving at the time of incident. I was his 4th such incident. Oh and he ran away but they found and arrested him. Contacted a lawyer and was basically told unless you’re permanently injured or disfigured etc you have no case. Piece of human garbage spent a few months in prison and that’s that. I had to pay my deductible and still live with the mental scar of having someone come into my lane at 60 mph. Too this day I am nervous driving on two lane roads/highways. That day I drove my beater and left my lifted 08 Ram at home. I feel like I would have done the world a favour that day if I had driven my truck. He would have been a bug stain on my bumper instead and I have no qualms in saying that. World is full of pieces of crap. Hope you get what you rightfully deserve and “win” in all this. Sorry for the rant but this triggered me lol

I'm in Florida and had a an accident last year. Driver had no insurance, FL license, out of state tags. He got cited for careless driving and driving without insurance involving an accident. Both tickets involved going to court. He was pissed. I paid my deductible and that was that.

I think it depends on the LEO who responds to your accident. In my wreck he was a motorcycle officer. The other driver wasn't getting away with anything.

We are turning violent criminals loose by the thousands and we expect a petty drunk driver to pay?

I guess it depends how drunk they are....some drunk person decided to make my car target practice one night. Followed me around my hometown for miles, I finally said eff it and pulled into the local police department parking lot...he actually followed me until he saw I parked in the middle of a bunch of police cruisers.

Told my story to the cops, they put out a message...state police saw him on the highway and pulled him over. When they asked him to get out of the car he took a swing at a state trooper. Im pretty sure his night did not end very well.

Turned out he had a long list of crimes. Not sure what happened to him after that, but at least for that night he got what he deserved. Of course, no insurance so I had to pay to fix my car myself.

Wow!

Will cost me $100 to file in small claims, at best I could go for $600, but also wouldn't be compensated for lost time either. SUCKS

Glad you are ok, or as ok as you can be.

I need to be more thankful that it could have been alot worse, and pray that some good will come out of it somehow.

I keep forgetting that God is in control and will work things out in His time, not mine.

We should change the title to The Consequences of Driving With Insurance, since we're the ones with insurance getting hosed.

I was rear ended in my hellcat by a guy on purpose a few years back. He was let go with a ticket and was laughing at me. I found out his address later and for 3 years I would Drive by his house on Sunday mornings every one of the Sundays accept a few and throw a fresh box of roofing nails in his driveway with the grey plastic caps so they stood up straight. I chose this route because you can’t beat anybody up anymore without making CNN.
I feel your pain buddy.

Get an attorney and make sure to tell them how much pain u are in. Attorney gets a third, you get 2/3. You would be suing him personally. Unfortunately that’s the point we are at now and it’s the only way it’s ever gonna stop.

When in doubt, drop to your knee and say something hurts. Criminals game the system because they know they can. Honest people never win and more often than not end up worse than the criminal trying to fix what the criminal effed up in the first place.

What state do you live in? I'd personally have demanded a supervisor as there was more than enough for an arrest and charges. I feel like we're missing some details here maybe not because of you, but because of the poor law enforcement response.

Best of luck

I have a consultation this afternoon.

I'm sure small claims is probably the only recourse, but if not too expensive will go for the judgements, plus my costs, too.

Here's the other car:

Dude pretty much admitted everything.

Oh, and this will be his 3rd ticket for driving suspended in less than 2 years. 2nd time was noelle prosssed.

I told him how much of a ************* he was, in front of the cop. But it doesn't matter, because he will keep doing the same **** untill someone is seriously injured.

Sucks when you don'y have alot of money and bust your ass to have and keep nice things, and in an instant, some pos screws you over.

Yes it does suck. I have zero deductible on one of my trucks and it got side wiped, fortunately here in Arizona they also have uninsured add on. I used it. The insurance company will have to go after the other guy themselves

I agree lazy cop. But having wrong plates on car is Petitions license plates which that should’ve been a ticket in itself and not having insurance another one causing an accident driving without a license and on and on and on I will talk to an attorney what state are you in

Supreme Court ruling only applies to the physical tag on the window being expired. Also if this Cop took a report stating the other guy was driving or the driver stated he was driving, then hes good enough to collar as the driver. Also Cops know that collar will be dismissed cause the System sucks. We all hate it. But thats where we are at now.

Driving someone elses car.

Driving on a suspended license.

Cop says he didnt see him driving, so can't take him to jail. I said, "I saw him driving, can I make a citizens arrest?" Cop said, "No". D-bag gets ticket for driving w/o license.

Tag on car does not belong on that car.

Cop said they cannot even ticket for that because of a Supreme Court ruling.

No insurance on car.

Gets ticket for no insurance. Also gets to park car and is told to have it towed. NO IMPOUND.

So, my insurance collision deductible is $500, guess who pays that? Me. Plus, uninsured motorist only pays for injuries, not damages or losses.

So, It appears that my only recourse is small claims court and a judgement. More money, more lost time. But might do it for the pure joy. Maybe I can file a lien against him and owner of car.

How about that?

How about this one, dude was .33 drunk at noon, I was coming home from a nice weekend with a beautiful girl, this clown driving on a suspended license from 3 previous drunk driving crosses the center divide and hits us head on. So this assholes punishment? 11 days in jail, wtf? Gotta love California justice. Politicians that allow this and much worse are a clear and present danger to the US. Both of us were injured, my neck has been crooked since. There was a total of 40 ft worth of skid and we were both driving aprx 65 mph, they estimated the impact like 90mph the combined speed of both trucks. Our saving grace? Both of us had trucks, and at impact both trucks had travel downwards, the witnesses said the back of my truck was 6 ft in the air, I don't remember anything. If our trucks didn't have that downward force at the moment of impact, I'd be dead.

I am guessing from your profile that this occurred in Florida? If so, your insurance company can/should/will pursue the uninsured motorist (and car owner) in court and get a judgement (subrogation) In Florida, failure to provide financial responsibility in an accident will result (after judgement) in this/these person(s) being blocked from getting a DL or TAG until the judgement is satisfied. Not that they really care, since they were driving on a suspended license, but what this does is give you the satisfaction of keeping this person in legal limbo in perpetuity until they pay a settlement. If your insurance company doesn't pursue, then you still can get a judgement for about $400 in court costs and then file with DMV and hound them into oblivion for fun! Also, now that there is National DL/DMV reciprocation, they cannot go to another state and get a license to circumvent this restriction. Also, if you find out where they work, you can walk in and start a garnishment in about 5 minutes. I have been where you are and it SUCKS, so try to get some satisfaction and also show them consequences for their lazy arrogance

See, in Colorado, someone would probably shoot the *******. Seems that’s the penalty here for driving without a brain.
