A travel trailer needs 10 to 12% tongue. So 700 to maybe 800lbs.Ballpark you should be able to comfortably tow about 7000lbs., maybe 8000lbs. But it does depend on what you are towing. A boxy travel trailer tows much different than a flatbed trailer. Unless there was a dramatic increase that will be about your limit. You 'could' tow more but probably not comfortably and maybe not legally. Payload will roughly be in the 1300-1700lb range. A 7000lb trailer will have roughly 1000lbs of tongue weight. Add you, your passengers, and cargo, any aftermarket add-ons such as tonneau cover, larger (heavier) tires and wheels, etc, you will be getting close to your GVWR of your truck. They may advertise 10,000lb towing capacity but in reality you would likely be over GVWR towing that much.
I have towed my 8800lbs boat with my 2013 1500 3.55s and it towed it decent but that was really pushing it. But boats have lower tongue weight due to engine placement so I was under payload but power wise I was about at my limits. My step-son has a 2020 Tundra with factory 4.30's and has a tow capacity of 9800lbs. He towed his 9300lb travel trailer with it and was over payload and slightly over GRAWR (rear axle max). He said it towed it decent but at low speeds trying to maneuver the trailer his trans temp light came on. He plans on upgrading to a 2500 next year
Yep. Always see at least 12% when I have scaled them. Betting its at least 850A travel trailer needs 10 to 12% tongue. So 700 to maybe 800lbs.
are you pulling our leg..my '19 laramie only has 1324# payload total. so after me and wife and WDH I have less than 1000#. dont know how you are making that 5er work.
Ok guys I have interesting news.Does anyone know where one can access a towing chart for 2022 1500 Rams? Read several places in the rating has increased.
