One thing alot of you guys are missing is the fact 3.92's are roughly 22% deeper then 3.21's,so a 100,000 miles with 3.92's would be the same wear and tear on the engine/transmission/u-joints /ring and pinion etc. as 122,000 miles with 3.21's. Just saying,as i don't think any of you guys running 3.92's have gave any thought to the differances in wear and tear on the driveline components
Now who would be racing or driving their trucks that fast, lolHow much extra wear and tear does racing and hitting triple digit speeds put on one?
You are right, to a degree. The other side of that coin is that the 3.21 makes the trans stay in lower gears longer, which increases RPM's and works the trans more. I have never owned a 3.21 but I understand the trans might downshift from 8th to 7th at highway speeds more often. Actually the trans is the equalizer for wear and tear. Its kind of a wash if a 3.92 almost continually stays in 8th while a 3.21 pops up and down between 8th and 7th.One thing alot of you guys are missing is the fact 3.92's are roughly 22% deeper then 3.21's,so a 100,000 miles with 3.92's would be the same wear and tear on the engine/transmission/u-joints /ring and pinion etc. as 122,000 miles with 3.21's. Huh? 3.21 keeps the RPM's as low as possible. You are right, to a degree. The other side of that coin is that the 3.21 makes the trans stay in lower gears longer, which increases RPM's
Nope.and works the trans more.
I have never owned a 3.21
It really doesn't. My truck literally spends 98% of its engine runtime in 8th gear.but I understand the trans might downshift from 8th to 7th at highway speeds more often.

I'm not sure about 3.55. On the one hand it's completely not needed, transmission shifts are about 400 to 500 RPMs apart so there is never any lack of power at any point with the 3.21. On the other hand, it's the only gear ratio that puts you at completely different RPMs while towing. The 3.21 and 3.92 will both be at approx 2300 RPMs while towing my trailer at 63 mph. The 3.55 would be a few hundred higher or lower, and that might be either wasted fuel or feel nice and strong. Hmm.3.55 for the win.
3.21 are for dude that wear crocs with socks.
The chicks I know say, “arggagrggleaagrgrglaaggll”…..Guilty as charged.
You should hear what they say about guys with bro trucks and beefy tires. Fortunately I don't need to compensate (of course), but I can see that you might feel a little differently, you know? Whatever helps you get through your day!
If you're running 65+ mph,the 3.21's will stay in 8th unless you're climbing a mountain,or there's something wrong with your 8 speed. Some of the cars , come through with 2.62 gears, and they'll hold 8th up the majority of hillsYou are right, to a degree. I see you're still on the train. I get it leadership takes effort and every sheep needs a sheep dog.You are going to end up "rent free" in his head lol ....

You've corrected my spelling for free. Like I said you're prowling on this forum just a few minutes between messages. I guess you're bored with idle hand syndrome, I can't compete. Well now I got corrected lol ....Sheepdog is one word.
Also, I've noted several times in the thread proper nouns weren't capitalized, such as "crocs".
I make six figures as well, so I can afford the extra electrons for capital letters. I'm actually much nicer behind a computer screen as it's where I relax before we start the 'you wouldn't say that to my face' nonsense. I've fought and I've killed and I've had people try to kill me, telling some ******* he's a ******* is small potatoes. This is just for fun.
Back to the topic of gas milage, when everybody's favorite uncle plopped me down in Kansas I always noticed I got better gas mileage driving southbound vs northbound. I think I was being pulled south by the force of how much Oklohoma sucks. I have honest to God never seen a more boring state. I joke around a lot but I am dead serious in this. It's essentially Purgatory with interstates. Driving through to get to Texas you'd see dead armadillos with beer bottles in their little paw. The locals were so desperate for entertainment they were posing road kill as a hobby. I think Oklohoma primarily exists to make Arkansas not feel so bad about itself.
Okie345, I feel your pain and see why you need this outlet. You just let it all out, man, just let it all out.
This is such a great thread. Just when I start to get bored with the place, a milage thread becomes a grammar **** thread becomes a **** measuring thread. The internet is the best, and I bet at least 2/3rds of you are sober.
Well now I got corrected lol ....
