Does anyone know where to order pins and connectors that doesn't have a minimum order of 50-100 and doesn't require you to submit a quote/request/inquiry? I was looking around trying to find the pins to build the harness but everywhere I look seems to make it difficult

I had been reading this thread earlier this year planning to add the backup camera. Due to an unfortunate (stupid) accident in March while working in the yard, I had surgery on my right arm and decided it would be a bit much to take this on myself. So I bit the bullet and went to the local dealership and set it up for them to do the install. They said the OEM kit was on back order and the current status to get the parts was end of March.

I've heard nothing from them since then, so today I went to the dealership to check. They said the computer now estimated a receipt of the camera kit in NOVEMBER. I said "no thanks" and got a refund.

I came home and ordered the OEM kit off Amazon. It was $80 cheaper than the dealership, and will arrive in 2 weeks. It's actually coming from a dealership in Georgia (I live in Florida). So how is one dealership selling parts on Amazon that another dealership can't get for at least 8 months??

Anyway, looks like I'll be installing this myself. So thankful for all the great info here!!!

I went out to check to see what wiring I had in my c322 earlier today and I could not find any connectors behind the driver side splash guard near the firewall. I saw a few pages back that the 17+ trucks had a different style connector under the driver door along the frame so I looked there and noticed the same plug another guy posted a picture of. I find it strange as my truck is a 2015. Does this mean I would have to use the oem kit? I already have all of the tailgate wiring and handle that I pulled from a wrecked truck and was hoping I'd be able to use it still. Is there another way? (Posting pict of the connectors I did find, I believe the one is the c322 but it was mounted next to the battery) 20210626_214454.jpg20210626_214446.jpg20210626_214534.jpg20210626_214543.jpg20210626_214556.jpg

Brad,
You're the first pre 2017 truck I've heard of with that style connector... It's extremely difficult to find the pins for it which is why I tell the 17+ folks to get the Mopar kit.

If I could source the pins for both sides of that one connector, I could make the harness.

Hey all... so, I'm very happy to say that I got my OEM kit installed and working great with AlfaOBD and advice from this thread, but for some reason, it caused my tailgate power lock to work in reverse (ie. when I lock the doors, the tailgate unlocks and vice versa). I don't know how this came to be, but I fixed it yesterday by unplugging the lock solenoid, removing the white cap in the plug and punching out the two wires. I reinstalled them in reversed and reassembled. everything and I'm good to go again.

You may have swapped pins 7 & 8 (lock pins) at the i550 connector by the spare tire/tailgate during your install. But your fix works too!

Well, my dumb self did it...
Got all the way to the Radio plug, didn't see the instructions for the 3 pins as "View from the rear of the plug".
Took out the Grey-Dark Blue-Light blue wires from the radio plug and replaced them with the 2 Greys & a Bare....
At first, the instrument cluster would turn on, radio would not, none of the interior lights work....
Found this forum, realized what a dummy I am, switched the wires around as instructed.
Ok so here's the issue, tried to find somewhere else that maybe someone else had done the same thing and had a solution for this.
Instrument panel works, Radio works, truck starts and runs, drove it around... Issues:
1) When I turn the key to "Run", my instrument cluster and radio 'dim' like I have the headlights on.
2) Headlight switch doesn't seem to be doing anything at all, can't turn HLs on or off, they just seem to come on when I start the truck.
3) None of the interior lights/dome work, use to turn on when I opened the door, but even pressing the button on maps lights does nothing.
4) Vanity mirror light doesn't work
5) Garage door buttons don't work

I've already started going through fuses, haven't found anything blown.
Haven't programmed truck for the new OEM b/u camera yet...
help
UPDATE: Checked a bunch of fuses, nothing blown, used a fluke to do so, not eye-balling it.
7-14-21 Decided to start keeping notes...

ALL WORK WAS DONE WITH NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTED UNLESS NOTED

At this time, I had disconnected the battery, using a low pressure detergent mixing hose nozzle, I cleaning the engine compartment by not only spraying with an approved detergent, but rinsing thoroughly afterwards. Vehicle sat for 3 days before the battery was ever connected again

Disassembled center console and radio faceplate
Removed radio
Removed panel from under steering wheel
Removed all plugs from BCM under dash
Scotch locked purple wire into Orange wire at BCM
Replaced all plugs in BCM
Removed aftermarket trailer brake controller harness installed by previous owner
Installed OEM trailer brake controller
Connected factory plugs to trailer brake controller

Large radio connector:
Read instructions wrong, depopulated Grey - Dark Blue - Light blue wires from radio plug.
Plugged Grey/red - Grey/blue - Bare from back-up camera wires into spots where Grey-Dark Blue-Light blue wires were
Electrical terminal on Light blue wire was damaged during removal.
Re-installed center console including plugging radio in

Re-connected battery negative terminal

At this point, I noticed that the interior lights were not turning on with the DS door being open. (dark outside)
Put key in ignition and turned to “RUN”
Noticed radio did not turn on.
Turned key off and back to “RUN” again- Same results

Researched and discovered that I had connected the electrical terminals in the radio plug incorrectly.

Removed center console, removed radio
Large radio plug latch broke
Removed Back-up camera terminals, replaced Grey-Dark Blue-Light blue wires
At this point, I had to ‘rig’ the light blue wire to keep it in it’s spot, the terminal is broken, not the plug
Re-Connected radio wiring, managed to use the broken retaining clip to keep the large connector in the radio.
Put truck ‘back together’

Symptoms:
Interior lights no longer turn on when opening the doors, neither do any of the outside lights.
Hazard lights no longer work
Universal Garage Door Opener no longer works
Map lights won’t turn on when pressed
Headlight switch does nothing
When key is turned to “RUN” the instrument panel and radio ‘dim’ as though the headlights are on
This is even in the middle of the day
Now getting “Service Shifter” messages in Cluster
Check engine light blinking or ON
Getting message “Vehicle Phone requires service” message on radio

Installed the chassis harness made by @Mpgrimm2 the other day. Works exactly as advertised. Great job on the harness, everything labeled and directions easy to follow. My 3500 is wired a little differently than the 1500, a little collaboration and and the harness was made exactly as needed. 5 STARS for workmanship and communication. Process couldn't have been any easier. I might have been able to make my own harness, but it would have been no where as neat and easy to put in.

Thanks MPgrimm2 - glad I went with your harness.

Thank you too all that worked so hard finding all that needed to be done for this and cargo camera installation. I successfully completed this yesterday. Now I just need a sw update.

hello all, i recently installed an aftermarket rear cam and tapped it into the 2014 factory u connect. after going through that hell of wrong connectors and having the video feed wires reversed, ive programmed the truck with alfa obd and i get the camera when i back up, but i dont get the soft key to turn it on while im in park. when i activate the cargo cam in alfa obd it gives me that soft key for the cargo cam but not the rear view camera. ive done extensive googling and cant find a solid answer. some people say they have it, some people say the 15 and older dont have that option. am i going on a goose chase trying to figure this out or is it just not possible to activate that button option on a 2014 ram? thanks

I did some digging and I found this for you. I remembered reading it before but couldn't remember the exact details

you sir are a saint... i did some digging into alfa obd settings and saw that i was probably out of luck, but after looking at this thread, i might have a little hope with a software update.

not sure if anybody cares but i did find out that if you splice an aftermarket camera into your uconnect, enable all the rear view camera options in alfa obd and then enable the CHMSL camera present option, it will allow you to add the soft key and activate the rear camera at any time while youre driving. but it will not automatically show the camera when you put it in reverse youll have to hit the cargo cam button. this is on a 2014 1500 bighorn

Hey new to this forum, but I found this thread and it is a wealth of info!
i have a truck cap i put on my Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn. I have an aftermarket back up camera that takes a 4 pin M12 connector and i want to splice it into the OEM harness so that i can use the Uconnect dash screen. I thought i had the wire correct but it just shows green with a bunch of lines. Does anyone have info on hooking up the 4 pin cable cameras to the OEM harness?
Thanks!
