I have a 2013 Ram 1500 with a 5.7 Hemi. I just passed 115k miles when the engine developed a lifter knock. The local Ram dealership did a cursory diagnosis and their solution was to drop in a new motor. My question is, how does a Hemi with a good track record and a history of meeting all of the required service marks suddenly have metal shavings in the oil. I only have their word and I'm skeptical.
