Mine does not nor did it ever have shutters. Verified that when the rad and condenser came out.
And I'm just now realizing the above quote was not pointed at me.
I had a bad HEMI tick that took out the 5.7 and got a sweet deal on a brand spanking new SRT8 6.4 liter and dropped that in there. One of these days I'm going to sit down and post the swap I did. Including the damage I found to the 5.7. Plus problems that arose from the swap.
I never let the temp et above 212. Once I noticed it climbing I started trying to increase airflow.
It is a much more noticeable rate of cclimb in bumper to bumper.
Thanks for the feedback
OK... So before y'all jump all over me with the stock answers and solutions, I've been down that road unless there's something I've missed.
Did an engine swap back in Sept of '22. Truck is still running great. Changed the Tstat to a 185 degree F. during the swap. The tune was changed to...
If you have a lifter tick its a good chance the engine has a lot shrapnel in it. Mine did.
I cannot speak for the '04-'07 5.7l swap but i did swap in a factory crate SRT8 into my '12 1500.
The block externally is identical. Tuning was accomplished with the help of a performance tuning guy I was...
I did the swap less than a year ago and couldn't be more pleased with the result.
I went with a factory fresh SRT8 unit and the whole package cost me less than $10K.
Not what I wanted to do but it was cheaper than a new truck or gambling on the condition of the bottom end of my old 5.7.
UPDATE--- For whatever it's worth.
The Zone warranted the starter. (after trying to get me to upgrade to the very unit I was having issues with.)
Got it installed and "Vroom" it turned the engine over and it started.
I guess new parts do go bad.
When I upgrade the transmission I'll upgrade the...
Ok...So I finished a 6.4 SRT8 swap into my 2012 QC bighorn in Oct. '22.
Everything is running great, so much fun to drive, until...
Mid January this year I go out to start my truck to go to work and all I get after turning the key is "click/thud"(starter trying to turn the flexplate)

Ok, so I'm doing an engine swap and had the A/C discharged so that I could remove the condenser as I didn't feel comfortable hanging it up and moving all the time.
So now I'm in the process of replacing o-rings and gaskets. Surprise surprise every parts store or warehouse sells the exact same...
update: 5:30 PM, Ian is for the most part gone from my area. No damage, family, house, and vehicles intact.
I'm sure others were not so lucky.
The screw is still missing.......
It's 6:15 am Thursday morning. Ian is still over land and has been downgraded to a tropical storm but is still dumping a lot of rain. So far we have been very fortunate and lucky. The storm eye passed under us so we got the weaker side of it.
Praying for those still in its path. We're not out...
