While I'm not disagreeing with you, you should do some research as to why they were sued over a cup of coffee. To summarize it was about it being served at a temperature hot enough to cause 3rd degree burns when she got splashed by it.

No, I refuse to hear some ******** story of an excuse of why someone felt the need to sue somebody else over their own stupidity. For something they did to themselves. Nobody seems to want to take and accept responsibility for their own actions anymore. This is neither here nor there, but coffee’s hot. Always has been. Always gonna be. Might wanna handle it with care because it spills on ya, it’s probably gonna burn ya. I guarantee you, the coffee I make every day is every bit just as scalding hot as everywhere else you get it.

But to ask for 2.86 million dollars?? Even to end up with the $640k she did get?...lol. Yeah okay.

...I guess someone must have fallen out and got driven over and now we all are being saved!!

Anton Yelchin - Actor from current Star Trek movies, Alpha Dog, etc... His family sued FCA when he got pinned by his Grand Cherokee against wall and died.

That was a direct result from that goofy “Monostable” electronic shifter that thing had.

To shift from drive into park, the driver simply applies the brakes, clicks the lock button on the shifter, and moves the shifter all the way up, three “detents” until the light on the shifter and dashboard read “P” for park. Then the shifter returns to center.

I can kinda understand the recall over that since that’s a really goofy design but still, you really can’t place blame on something like that and not on your own stupidity and carelessness. But hey, because of that probably is why we have the auto park feature. Too many sue happy people.

Spot on CORRECT...!!!!!!!!!! Theres plenty of dumb to go around today.
All are followed by lawyers waiting to jump on a case, even if its barely winnable.
It is a shame for what we`ve become in this country. People are just looking for a free ride everywhere.

I just received a "customer satisfaction notice" from FCA recommending I go to my dealer and have the autopark feature added to my 2016 sport..... nope, thanks I'm satisfied NOT having that feature!
Ditto. Got it. Not gonna do it. However, I also got a recall on a passenger side airbag issue. Now I'm concerned that if I take it in for the airbag recall, they'll do the Auto-park even if I tell them not to.

When people point out that this feature has been added, I still dont understand why people complain about it. If you are so worried about being able to backup with your door open, plug your seat belt in behind you, and you can.

This is an important safety feature. Mistakes happen. You have a way to bypass it.

I would understand the complaints if you couldn't drive/backup with the door open even with the seat belt buckled, but this is not the case.

They will do it. They have to. If you need to bypass it, buckle your seat belt behind you, and it will drive as it is now.

If you decline it and sign a waiver, They will not do it.

If this true, what about the next person in line that buys your vehicle? You may have signed a waiver stating that you have relieved the manufacturer from any and all liabilities of that but what if the next dude that buys your truck ends up like that actor? You’re right, another costly lawsuit for a safety feature that wasn’t there when it should have been. Are they willing to risk another potential lawsuit over a waiver? I may be wrong, but I would think not.

The only thing that might get you outta that was if they put a note in the system next to your vin that says the auto park feature needs to be enabled before its resold again after you trade it off. But then again, the next person in line would be screwed if you sold it private party like I sold my 08.

I'm not too concerned about any of that.

Now....Having said that, I had all of the recalls done yesterday because I happened to be at the dealership and the service guy asked me if I wanted them done.

The auto park is a non issue to me and I'll probably never have it engage anyway, so why not just get it done?

Well yeah, especially since there’s ways around it. Just like how for you and I when the FMCSA made it a $2750 fine for us professional drivers that talk on a phone without some sort of a handsfree device, and how so many drivers *******, and moaned, whined, cried and kicked the dirt on how unfair of a fine that was. Just spend a hundred bucks on a good Bluetooth headset and you’ll be fine. Problem solved. lol.

But yeah, my last post that you quoted, wasn’t meant for you, it was meant more for the people that say they don’t want the update and would sign a waiver if they could. I may be wrong about what I said but it sure made sense to me.

But you know, I got to thinkin. If this is a “safety” thing, and most definitely a “get out of lawsuit free” card, why did they make it to where also having your truck in 4Lo will disable it too? That doesn’t make sense. I would think that in low range, you would probably be a lot more prone to that behavior of wanting to open your door and, if ya did fall out, the truck’s gonna have a lot more power and torque now to drive over something in its way. lol.

4low is for offroading. You already take your liability into your own hands. Just like in my 2002 jeep wangler you could pop in a fuse into an empty slot in the fuse block and bypass the clutch engagement requirement for the starter. This is used offroad in low range to start the vehicle in gear (so you do not roll back).

Yeah I know, but running yourself over is still running yourself over regardless what you’re doing. What if you’re not off-roading? What if you’re using your truck for the ultra low torque to pull a stuck vehicle out of a ditch, or pulling up a small stump?

But who knows, I’m sure there is a specific reason why the use of low range cancels the auto park.

I'm in the same boat, have to do the tailgate recall, but will tell them DO NOT flash this while in the shop!

Is there any way around the fact that the trans goes into neutral if you are in either reverse or drive and have the door open. Sometimes I want to back up and look out the open door.

OLDGUY2: Here U go, (1) of many options. What I use when in a field doing hay or other stuff. NOT for driving on road. But allows U to get in/out move with door open, see URL: When driving always use seatbelts...

Let us know how that turns out because I’m really curious as to
what they’re gonna tell you when you turn it down. If they even tell you that the addition of that auto park is part of it.

the tailgate recall is not fixed with a flash, but actual parts, they can not force you to do it, and I will be sure to tell them not to touch anything but the tailgate when I bring it in.Bottom line is it's my truck, I can choose to bring it in , or not at all. Also as a side note the tailgate is a recall, the auto park is a campaign(recommendation).
