Does anyone know how to disengage the transmission going into park every time the door is open on my ram?
Its very annoying when driving it up a hoist for oil change and can't look out the bottom of the door.
When the door is opened in drive, it automatically changes gears to Park, not a good thing really.

Thanks guys, the simple solution is the extender. I'll start shopping for these.

Do both front seats need an extender or just driver side?

If you keep your foot on the brake pedal it will remain in gear. Just enough pressure to make the brake lights stay on

I use to drive tractor trailers and used to open my driver's door backing into tight locations on a regular basis. So out of habit I was left backing in a trailer with my 1500 and opened my and bamm it all stops and I had NO clue what had happened, that feature annoys the **** out of me! Lol

Once the setting is enabled it cannot be un done. For older trucks 13 15 it's a software update the dealer performed for newer trucks it comes automatically. Great advice on here buy the seat belt extender.

AFAIK, this automated engagement of the electronic parking brake started with the '22 model trucks.

My '21 doesn't have an electronic parking brake but will not allow me shift the transmission from Park with the door open and the seatbelt not engaged.

I use the seatbelt extender so I can move truck on the property without the seatbelt nanny.

Once in a blue moon, I may backup on my property with the door open while not wearing a seatbelt too.

And, living in a rural area, I don't think twice about driving home from the community mailbox without a seatbelt.

Too many were not getting the V07 (Auto Park) completed so it was pulled/cancelled and incorporated into the V08 AEM emissions update. The V08 was mandatory, it could not be refused.

Thanks, I had not followed the program so now I know. I stand corrected
