Yip that looks like the factory light. That harness and all the connectors is crazy! The harness I got from Deer Guy literally has 5 wires that need to be pinned and that's it, three for the radio connector and two to go into the power source on left side C pillar. Of course not sure how their system actually works. I generally stay away from their products.

What options do we have for Front camera's?

I am most likely going to add a Mygig Lockpick to my truck.

I'm using this one form Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ARS6UWG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is bounds better than my last one here.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AYGKEVK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The adjustments aren't as good as the one I had before but the image quality and viewing angle is much better than the above link.

Mounted in the Ram emblem.

I agree 100%. I have to bite my tongue when they are mentioned or I will go off on a rant lol. I was just curious what camera they were selling. I knew there was an aftermarket third brake light camera out there but someone had mentioned that they got one and the camera doesn't show the same angle but who knows? I do know the factory LED third brake light camera is hard to find used.

They have kits with either an aftermarket one or the oem one. The oem kit is, as expected, much more expensive. After the Power Folding Mirror Genie I bought from them did not actually activate all the functions and they kept claiming the problem was with my mirrors (It wasn't, AlphaOBD proved that) I would not buy from them again either.

While they have a video on YouTube which shows 2 options for a cargo camera (the OEM CHMSL camera and their setup which is the standard brake light with a camera they install), when I contacted infotainment several months ago the OEM option was (according to them) still being worked on and not ready. I believe that is still true today, no OEM CHMSL camera option.

It's out, or at least it's selectable on their site.

Aftermarket Kit: https://www.infotainment.com/collections/all/products/ram-chmsl-third-brake-light-cargo-camera-kit

OEM Kit: https://www.infotainment.com/produc...-light-cargo-camera-kit?variant=9166414741540

But I agree, you're far better off with an independent purchase, AlphaOBD and M2's harness.

Yes! We need a legend as well! Something that puts these catagories into words everyone can understand.

Example it goes from vehconfig to CBC I/O changes. What exactly does CBC I/O stand for?

If this already exists someone link me. I'm telling you my a.d.d struggles with reading the opinions and such trying to find the exact how to's.

Another request would be if the moderators allow the ALFA team to make how-to threads and lock them. This way a member doesn't have to sort through 300 pages on answers or someone biting their head off for the search function.

Just my humble opinions.
While I agree with you, I have not pressed him too much. I set what I know and leave the rest alone.

In automotive terms it means Cornering Break Control Input Output. Not sure what that has to do with a lot of the settings that follow it or even if that means what it is for FCA and Alfa?

This I definitely agree with. Not sure if it would be a lot of work or not. This is why I encourage anyone who has done some of the more complicated items to create their own DIY thread and keep the first few posts for updates and additions. Since I now have control over this thread in previous post edits, I can link from the OP.

That's interesting, when I was looking a folding mirror upgrades I asked them if they would leave out the genie from their kit and they said they would not. Maybe it just depends on who you talk too.
Possibly so... they would only take the genie off for me, I tried to buy just harness and they wouldn’t do that so I just bought the kit without the genie.

I’m not defending their reputation as this is the only dealings with them I have had but I was very sastified with their kit. I’ve never heard good or bad about them before this thread. Everything was plug and play and functions 100% like a factory installed camera.

I’ll also add that it was a genuine mopar light/camera. It came shipped in its original packaging and box from mopar.

Yeah my "bad"....I did not check on this recently just went off of what I found out back late summer/early fall when I last contacted them. But after looking at the install video and the harness they have...WOW. I am glad I went with DeereGuys setup. I wish I took some pics of the install. As RicksRam mentions, so much simpler, and I did not have to pull the radio out. Feed the harness into the cab from the outside through the opening in the back of the cab, pin 2 wires into a connector on the "B" pillar and feed the other 3 wires to the "green" connector on the far left side of the dash. this connector is right behind a cover you pop off.

Has anyone found any settings to change the thresholds for the IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor)? I have brand new batteries and am still getting the message when it is cold and my grid heater turns on. Thanks!

Will AlfaOBD read RAM specific error codes of my 2011 1500 5.7 HEMI?

I have one of those crazy looking Infotainment harnesses that I purchased from them before I found the RAMForum and M2Mods. Mine is for the microphone as my truck had nothing. That fits all harness does a microphone, rear camera, cargo camera and that multi wired white connector plugs into that terrible aftermarket 8.4 bezel with the scratchy volume control they sell.

Thank goodness for you RAMForum folks and M2Mods cuz their wiring is better than FCA !!!!! I have a M2Mods 7 speed harness, a 2018 bypass harness and an overhead console harness w/HomeLink. Soon I'll be rid of the Infotainment microphone harness and have a Mike G mirror harness for a 2018.

Think long and hard where you want to spend your money because we all work to hard for it.

Since your truck is a 2018 they take a little longer for the codes to show up on the screen if you have the stock UAS or UAQ radio. As Ghost-Ram stated enabling the cargo cam should bring the icon up on your apps screen. I have seen them take until the next day to show up. If you have already gone back in to make sure the codes are set I would wait at least a day to make sure it shows up.

Code showed up today along with a controls icon. Everything I have done with the alfa app has worked. Only thing that is not working is the bed light switch that is under the drivers side bed light!! I think 2018 was the first year for this and I activated my bed lights under a 2014 file which was the only bed light activation that showed. If I can't figure it out I may have to E mail the developer. Thanks @Ricks Ram and @Ghost_RAM for all you do to help us guys!!!

If you don't have a pc laptop laying around then an android tablet will be your cheapest route!!! I had a laptop so I just use it and it saved me from buying a tablet for the few things I am doing with the app.

Thanks, I ended up grabbing a amazon fire hd 8 since it was cheap. I had to download some stuff to get google play but its working now. For anyone that only has apple products this was a cheap alternative

Was going to post my results on adding remote start but I ended up breaking the number 11 wire pin that needs to go into the harness so I couldn't ground the wire and bypass the hood latch. Not sure what I am going to do now

68096094AE is the correct part number for the Smart Beam mirror for 13 to 16 Rams with Assist/911 buttons with no rear view camera in the mirror. You can also use it on the 17 and 18 ram but their mirrors don't have the microphones like the 13 to 16 Rams.

I was planning to add the smart beam mirror to my truck but I was wondering if it will work and be about to see through the blacked out part of the windshield behind the mirror? I was thinking there was a clear spot on the windshields of the factory equipped trucks?

There is no separate part listing for a windshield for a truck with LMS (Smartbeam) so Im guessing the windshield is fine the way it is.
