bought the truck only 18 months old...

Seems the USB for that radio was never hooked up... My 'USB' on my screen is not an option and I never found a port hanging down for me to access:

The USb would be showing up "IN COLOR" if it was usable

So this basically means my auxiliary USB HUB is also not hook up cuz it doesn't work...

My Question:

what is the easiest way to reach the back of the lower left of the radio so I can plug a USB extension cord into it to at least be able to have a port hanging down to use???? (as seen in diagram above... I don't NEED to have my USb HUB working for me to be satisfied)

Should I take out the glove box and upper shelf to be able to get my hand in there and just plug it in???

Two screws on top and one in the cubby. A pull and the center section of the dash comes out. Radio held in by 4 screws. Here is a link MPGrimm2's post with the PDF of how to install an 8.4 radio. It has instructions on disassembling the dash.

Shouldn't mess anything up? I guess they already did it once in order to replace the factory with this one, so YEAH, I'll try it that way

THNX TONS

I agree with @chri5k on how to access the USB port. Do you have radio controls on your steering wheel? If you do are they working?

No I do not, but I know the USB HUB got disconnected and that is a different connector in the stock back than the pioneer back is a normal USB

I'll try the removal when I get a warmer day...LOL

To get the usb hub working in the console requires a part from idatalink, ram u I think is the part. Not a simple install. You'd be better off gaining access to the usb port on the radio and adding an extended usb or buy a motorcycle usb plug and remove one of the 12v power supplies on the bezel and replace it with the usb insert. I've done that on a couple of truck's I've had. Simple and clean.

Crutchfield also sells the harness that retains the USB and aux input.

I used that when I installed my pioneer radio

My AUX input actually works, so that must be hooked up properly, so I'm thinking all I need from that KIT is the cord that plugs into the original USB cable and the USB side goes into my new radio.

THNX, I'll give it a try just using the cord first... or is that circuit board really needed for the USB?

If all else fails no big deal, I'll just drop down a 5' USB cable like pioneer says and just mount it somehow

THNX ALL, I'll update when I get warmer weather and get this working.

The circuit board replaces the one in the media hub in the center console. The cord is the adapter that allows the original truck connector for the media hub that was plugged into the factory radio to plug into your aftermarket radio. Both need to be used to make the center console media hub work.
