This another tire option...

https://roadtraveler.net/toyo-open-country-c-t-10000-mile-review/

Toyo C/T. 35 12.50R17, 3 ply, Load Range E, and 3PMSF. Per the above review the wear is exceptional. It even looks good on my same style of PW wheel. Perfect, but they aren't sold around here other than through a special order at Walmart. Anyhow this looks to be a great choice for my next winter season set of tires.

I had those tires on a Promaster 2500 loaded.
The van was easily stuck due to being FWD ( snow and such )
Best tire for handling, wearing and not getting stuck.

I wanted the C/T on the Powerwagon but no 37" available.

I completely agree with you. I might say useful tread life... I loved my Ridge Grappler's for about 10,000 miles, and now I'm not too happy with them as the wet weather traction has turned to ****! They still have a lot tread on them (look just about new), but for me the useful tread life is gone.
Maybe sip them and you will do better in the rain. I had the MUD KO on my Jeep and discount tire sip them for me. Made it possible to drive in Denver during a snow or rain storm.

I think there are a lot of other variables going on when it comes to tread life. Driving conditions, driving style, exact type of truck, etc.... I have a cousin that ran almost exclusively rough back roads with lots of curves, turns, and stop and go, a lot of off-road, pulled trailers or hauled heavy loads regularly, and had a heavy right foot. He was lucky to get 20k miles out of any tires he ran. Somebody running the same truck but mostly empty and driving a straight line down the free way with the cruise on would probably get double the mileage.
Totally agree. Towing takes a huge toll on tire as well as the hot pavement on Texas. I’m on at 15k on my stock dura tracks and can see I will not make 30k safely. Not a terrible tire just not rated high enough for me. Range E is where the tread life is for me. General AT (as mentioned in this tread ) is a good choice if you tow or haul.

I’ve got 17k on my stock duratracs and they are 10/32 looking pretty sad, they will be gone before 22k. I don’t tow anything heavy, don’t hot rod, and very little true off road.

some that post higher mileage most likely do a 5 tire rotation. where I think most of us don't. I know for me, my spare only goes on the ground when I need a spare.

I went 34,000 miles on my stock Duratrac tires. You'll wish that you hadn't. Avoid running over any corn kernel in Iowa or a finger pinch of sawdust in Montana. Both are sure to puncture between the treads.

I rotate my 4 main tires regularly, but you are correct I have never put the spare into the rotation. Really the techs should be rotating the full-size spare as part of the process, but they don't know too, or just in a hurry. I guess I should remind them. Though the wear at this point would be pretty uneven between the spare and the four on the road. Read some say adding in the 5 tire extends the sets life by 25%.

Yep I had a blowout on my
Duratracs driving on pavement right in between the treads at 12k that I was able to plug. Rotate main 4 every 5k. I really do like the performance of the tires, have even considered giving them another try in a 35 E load in hopes they would last longer.

I think I’m about to pull the trigger on these. Is a recalibration to account for the tire size a must do, or is it close enough to not be an issue?

Was a must for me. Some deal with it without it. I think with the 8 speed trans it may not be as important.
I would still do it, for sure.

I agree.

Also, on our nearby 80 MPH speed zones in Utah, especially in going pass Thompson, Utah on the Interstate near Moab there's usually a radar speed trap. Doing 80 MPH with the speedometer not recalibrated with 35" tires is about 86 MPH. It's worth the few bucks to me to have an accurate speedometer.

Which ones work with a ‘19? I think I remember seeing that only the rough country one does at the moment?
