2014 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 5.7l V8 Hemi keeps throwing a P0456 check engine light code about once a week. Had my mechanic check it over and he ran a smoke check on it and said he found nothing there. So he put on a brand new gas cap. Still happens about once a week. So I had my friend replace the NVLP thng as well. Still came back on today. Any thoughts or ideas?

That’s an evap leak. Have you tried the EGR valve?

Not equipped with an EGR valve.

Chances are there is a leak and your mechanic just can’t find it. Purge valves are pretty common as well. Have seen a couple fuel pumps cracked causing a evap leak as well.
