Yeeep , need to new gas tank or wait it out and don't top off at the gas pump ... mine just corrected itself and doesn't shut off like it did in the past ... right now it will shut off at times but very rare now .... even though I never topped off at the pump the vent on the tank went bad for some reason ... sucks!
They make more money replacing the entire tank.
It hasn't fixed itself really but gotten better .. took maybe 2-3 months before it stopped clicking off every 20 seconds lol ... It's been a few months since it's done that, but it has clicked off maybe a hand full of times in the last 3 months or so ....
Call your dealership, here in California they are finally replacing them if they see that the gas pump clicks off while they are putting gas even if your truck is out of warranty because of an emissions law ... the lady I just spoke to on Monday said they are working on designating it a recall but are have issues doing so, whatever that means lol ..
They will charge you a $200 diagnostics fee regardless which will be credited back if they can replicate the issue ... So call them, doesn't hurt to give them a call ...
