Yeah if it happens to mine. I think I will take the time to do it myself, if I have the time/money. Love the truck. I do wish I had the rambox option haha I keep peeking at craigslist seeing if someone puts a the same color as mine up for sale. hehehe Love the idea of the rambox even though I do hear they have some minor issues, that can be fixed.

Honestly, from everything I have read on this and unfortunately that has been a lot. It is a problem with the lifter that is related to the MDS. Without the MDS these kinds of lifters would not be used. It was explained to me that when a lifter fails it can be a couple things. However, most of the time it is something along the lines where one of the lifters begins sticking and basically locks up, then it grinds the cam lobe flat. Again, I am not an expert, just going by what the shop who has does several of these is telling me. I don't think there is any rhyme or reasons as to which engines will have this issue, It is more a luck of the draw kind of thing. Sadly enough, for every person who is having symptoms like this Dodge should conducted an extensive examination on the engine with a scope and whatever is necessary to see why it is happening and make it right for the consumer.

Don't know if it is true but I have been told if you deactivate the MDS, it will void the warranty.

I am confused, how do we know it isn't causing it? When he said "non mds lifter" what are we taking from this, it is not one of the lifters that shuts down during MDS activity? I am heavily considering getting a tune and turning off MDS permanently... But I dont want to take a chance at giving the dealership reason to give me a hard time if I am in for warranty work. My truck came with a 3rd party 200k/7yr powertrain warranty since it was a used vehicle sold with under 100k miles on it.

Exactly, none MDS lifter is one that isn't shut off. If I understood everything I have read, a timer will in fact void a mfg warranty unless your dealer is mod friendly and doesn't report it. I suspect it would be the same for your 3rd party warranty.

*sigh* decisions decisions. Reduce likelihood of mechanical failure and void warranty, or hope it never happens, only to have 3rd party tell me to eff off anyways. lol. I think the best choice would be to double up on payments for about 2 years and get this BAMF paid off so if it does happen... aftermarket engine :party36:

Soooo..... I think I have the same issue - 2013 Dodge Ram Laramie Longhorn 1500 hemi 5.7 - daily driver 2 hours round trip. Two years ago this month I had the dealer replace the lifters under warranty after ticking got heavier and heavier. They said the cam shaft was in fine shape. No problems until the past month - now getting the stumbling under acceleration at light load/coasting minor uphill, etc.

From reading this thread, it seems replacing the parts with factory parts leaves me fixing this problem again 75k miles down the road. The truck has 124k miles on it and I love the truck, have modded it and keep it in pristine condition. I am considering doing the work myself with two car junkie buddies.

1. Has anyone done this and have good instructions on what to buy, and a step by step how to?
2. Where do I find aftermarket parts that fix the core issue so I can drive this truck to 300k or more?

Looking at the AMS Racing MDS Delete Kit...

Thanks in advance!

I had this issue with my 2016. Try disabling "hill start assist" in the system settings. This hopefully should stop the transmission shifting hesitation :)

Thanks - yeah I wish that would work for mine, but it is definitely not the hill start assist causing my issues.

I have a 2011 with this issue. Ive bought a new throttlebody and a set of injectors. If that doesnt fix it im ready to figure it out whether its a new cam and lifters, New heads. Whatever it takes. I like my truck im not intetested in parting with it.

I replaced the throttlebody with a 90mm one. New set of injectors and still hesitating. Replaced map sensor and so far so good. Part was $12CAD @ Rockauto.

I've since MDS delete, cammed and tuned it. I think the problem I had was related to having headers, exhaust and intake and not tuned.
