IMO a Fleetguard/Cummins lab is totally separate from the engine dept so not sure how it would be in conflict, all the lab does is analyze oil samples and nothing else, also Blackstone does not have the same up to date equipment like a Fleetguard/Cummins lab. During mid 1980's to 2000 when I was in & around the trucking industry the only names I knew who owner operator & small fleet owners relied on for UOA was Fleetguard/Cummins, Cat, Volvo Penta, Oil Analysis Lab and a few others, until I started to read car & pickup news groups I had never heard of Blackstone labs so for me I will still go with a lab that people who need dependable UOA labs to keep there 200K truck on the road every day... BTW did you even know that Blackstone guesses the amount of fuel in the oil by flashpoint method where Cummins goes by GC?
I really don’t care one way or the other. It is the OP’s issue not mine.

I assume the truck otherwise runs fine? You mentioned CEL was on for frequent regens. Any other codes? If the injectors are “fine” and one isn’t dumping fuel into the cylinder have you verified all are within spec? Have you checked the cross-over tube? If all else checks my bet would be the rings are shot.

I suspect either it is a injector or the regen mode producing too much fuel into crank case. The truck is still under powertrain warranty I can not touch it at this point or they will void warranty. Dealer has only performed a power balance test on the injectors and thats all they said they needed to do to see if injectors were leaking lol. Everything is documented with the dealership and how they have not taken what I said seriously. Once i bring it back to them with fuel in the oil it will be I told you so. Clanking sound is still there, not near as loud but still there. Batteries being replaced didn't do ****.

I picked my truck up yesterday with them attempting to fix my regen problem. They said I was good to go, drove off the lot and what do you know regen. I went for a drive today and within 43 miles another regen. They did a stationary regen, replace mass air sensor, partical sensor recall, and reflashed the Pcm.

At this point I am tracking regen times and miles and waiting for oil level to rise.

Video of clanking a little quieter.

Regen 43 miles after that one next day.

I would think you would want accurate an not guess work but its your choice not mine...

I do have fleet guard on the way. I just need to show fuel level In oil is far from normal. I am sure any of these test should at least show that part. I don't need a complete break down.

OMG and here I thought my regens were short at 422 to 342 miles, now up to 614, but what you have is uncalled for and total BS, hate to say it but your engine sounds like a Hemi in need of cam an lifters, I really do hope they get you taken care of asap...

Yep having miles in the picture helps. Started adding the water marks to the photos as well. It will definitely show how frequent they really are. I guess when the dealer doesn't believe you, blow it up? Must be Rams new policy lol

Just what happens during a common Regen ?

I know on my Eco-diesel, the message comes up. i drive on the highway less then 20 miles & the message goes away at 20 Percent.
My issue is that i drive too many short trips, so i see the message about every 30 days.

From what i thought, the DEF goes through the Pump & then through the Injector & straight into the Exhaust System

That is such a nightmare, when a dealer finds one problem after another which then makes things worse. Do you have another dealer within easy driving range?

Problem with going to another dealer at this point is they have all my stuff documented and best chance of warranty will be through them. Untill Ram care says move it you can't really do much. Since @RamCares told me to pound sand i am stuck with this long battle.

Short trips are not good on the new diesel trucks. The new emissions stuff just plugs up. When it goes into regen mode it brings idle up, injects more fuel and gets the exhaust temp up to 900-1200 degs. Its burning off the exhaust build up.

I bought a gladiator, I wanted a diesel model but started to think what I was going to use it for. I ended up not going with the diesel and sticking to gas.

This is one of the main reasons I didn't get a diesel. I've had this truck for 10 months, and I just went over 3500 miles - and it's my daily driver - so 350 miles per month. I live quite rural and I'm retired, there aren't that many places for me to just get in the truck and drive. And when I do drive, the majority of my trips are into town 3 miles away at 40 MPH, and one or two trips a month into the "city" 30 miles away at 60 MPH. I would have killed a diesel engine by now.

100% my diesel I used for work to tow. Now it's in my personal collection for long camping trips. Jeep gladiator is my around town/wheeling vehicle. Wife has a wk2 she drives around.

Ah man, that's no good. Did you get an oil analysis yet?

I'd be asking for an engine.

If you drive it daily for a few weeks you should have a decent hunk of scrap metal instead of an engine.

They need to go ahead and order you a new engine. No way would I take any kind of rebuild on that one.

Oh I can daily it for work and can hit over 200miles a day. I work construction and travel a fair bit. No I won't settle for a rebuild at this point It will never end. I don't know the path forward just filling up the oil with fuel like the dealership instructed me to.

Sounds to me like a Main or Rod knock.

It's the top end somewhere. Didn't start till the dealer did all their "service" to it. As much fuel that is dumping into the oil i am leaning to the injectors.
