Picked up a new to me 05 2500 5.7 for dirt cheap, lots of work ahead but overall solid.
Picked this up last week from a guy who had someone attempt and steal it, messed up ignition then cut the cats, as far as I can tell that's the most of it. Now the sadness, I've been unable to get the starter to engage via key, tried a multitude of things. I've gotten it to spin over by sending 12 volts directly to the solenoid so the starter & solenoid are okay, replaced the key switch, ignition switch, complete fuse panel with one out of a parts truck I have that was running. So my question is would the different key & ignition system prevent the truck from cranking? I was under the impression that it would spin over, possibly fire up but then would die, but I'm not even getting that. Security light is on solid red, I'm going to be getting a new key from Dodge once the paperwork goes through. But yeah, would it still crank? If so where should I start looking, like I said, replaced ignition switch, complete fuse panel, and verified starter function. Any reply is appreciated.
