So I've decided I'm going to supercharge my '14 Ram 5.7. I've pretty much settled for the idea of going with a Procharger kit. It comes with the D1SC so it's very upgradeable down the road, but out of the box it delivers 7-9 psi of boost. I use this truck as a daily driver and to tow my 27' camper for family vacations. I've also purchased Air Ride "Load Lifter 5000 Ultimate" helper bags to aid with the towing. Any suggestions or comments on the supercharger are welcome. I'm curious to know if anyone is using this kit, what the 5.7's are good for boost-wise with all stock internals, etc. Your input is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yea, Procharger kit is good for my DD, as well as one of the cheapest you'll find. You'll be able to run about 8psi of boost safety. I was able to keep about the same MPG and definitely am enjoying the extra power when I feel like getting on it :D

Did you do the install? I'm pretty mechanically inclined and not afraid to take on the project by any means, just curious if you have any tips.

Oh, and do you have a good source to get an A pillar gauge pod to replace the stock A pillar cover?

I suggest you have a reputable/experienced speed shop do it unless you have worked on this kind of thing before on modern vehicles. Also, if you travel between elevations often, you'll also want them to install a wastegate/bypass valve to manage the pressure and tuning is crucial on a supercharged vehicle as you can kill an engine quickly if it is not correct. I haven't looked into A pillar pods yet, but that would be a good idea; maybe someone else can chime in on that.

I've done a lot of turbo setups so I'm very familiar with boost. As far as altitude goes, let's just say my V8 turbos went from sea level to 25,000 feet on a regular basis, so I'm also familiar with the tuning requirements. Like I said, I'm not afraid of doing the install at all. I'm basically trying to gather info on the reliability of the 5.7 and what it can safely take with stock internals. I will be running a wastegate as well btw.

If your mechanically inclined then save the dough and do it yourself. Hardest part is pinning the crank imo, and that wasn't that bad. Installed a Procharger on my 08 Jeep SRT in about 10 hours with a couple of buddies helping out. On mine just for piece of mind I also swapped out stock tensioner for a Dayco tensioner. A **** system would be cheap insurance as long as your not tuning for ****. I also did an overdrive pulley since the crank pulley had to come off. I plan on doing a Pro Charger on my 14 Laramie within the next year

Also iirc Pro Charger offers a idler and tensioner pulley swap.
I know for a fact I swapped my idler and tensioner pulleys. Just not 100% sure where I got them from.

I will definitely be using water/**** injection. I just haven't decided if I want it on a WOT switch or a manifold pressure switch set to activate at a certain boost level. The Procharger is mainly going to be for help when towing my camper, but I'm sure I'll have fun with it from time to time when I'm not towing.
