Kind of new to the v8 world. Ive owned and changed oil on several over the last 20 years, but when it comes to modifying vehicles, all ive ever worked on is import(honda, dsm, nissan). So theres a few questions i have regarding tuning and performance. truck is a 2015 laramie, 60k on the odometer. never driven hard, all maintenance records at 4-6k.

1: i heard that the 5.7 can take around 600hp reliably before the crank grenades itself, hoping for some clarification on it? Id like to push for the 800 mark but the price goes up exponentially once you start digging into aftermarket internals and the rest of the drivetrain has to follow suit.

2. how much boost can the block handle reliably? obviously higher octane and Meff(it got censored) injection can be added if needed, but i have no idea what these blocks can handle safely without cracking a cylinder etc.

3. never ran a procharger. only supercharger ive run is factory. I like the hit you get from turbos once they spool, but i also like that whine. Obviously its a preferential thing but with trucks, is it better to have that even turqs/hursepurr curve or....?

4. these tuning boxes that come for trucks - edge evolution w/ pulsar, diablosport, etc...are they able to access fuel maps/timing etc and can actually be tuned or are they all preset and id be better off with a holley terminator/fueltech/linkecu etc. To get to the 800 mark is going to require full engine control and ive never used the edge/diablosport hardware and am unsure of the level of access it allows.

i know these questions are fairly simple to answer, google unfortunately has so much information to offer that it can be confusing(for instance i heard edge insight +cts3 doesnt allow tuning[just presets] but also heard that the edge evolution can be purchased for more and does allow tuning? Then, i called edge to clarify, and they said it does and doesnt). Some of the answers i know are based strictly on personal preference. Engines for the most part follow the suck squeeze bang blow bit, but having never built or tuned a v8, im sure there are nuances im unaware of so if you can think of anything i need to know regarding this truck id appreciate anything you got.

Thanks

Give up on the 5.7 and scrounge up a truck 6.4 throw a set of rods and pistons in it,swap the valves and valve springs, and it'll easily handle 800 hp on about 8/10 psi. You're going to want to put an aftermarket crank/rods and pistons in the 5.7 if you want 800 reliable hp out of a 5.7.
None of those tuners you listed are worth a pot to p i s s in,you'll want HP to access the parameters you need to access for a boosted build. You're on the very ragged edge of what an 8HP70 will handle,so you'll want to find a tuner very well versed in tuning the 8 speed,as you'll want to add more torque management to keep it alive.
Heres a decent article on the truck 6.4,and you'll see why you want it's heads over the 6.4 apache heads.
