1500 Steering problems

I just got a call from my brother, he told me he lost his steering on his truck. Luckily he was at a stop sign, he had his kids with him. He bought his truck brand new two weeks ago. It is a 2013 1500 Tradesman Quad cab with the 4.7 2wd. This has me very concerned, I just bought my truck new a week ago, it's a 2013 Crew Cab 1500 4x4 with the 5.7. Anybody else having steering problems?.....

Did he loose his serpentine belt. I had a bud who lost his and that's what it was.

I will get more info from him and post it. The truck was towed to the Ram dealer. He said he could keep turning the wheel round and around.

Apparently, not *all* 2013's have full time electric power steering.

I have a 2010 with 37000 km on it..Power steering was hummin and sound like low fluid..Fluid was fine so i thought pump..Stopped into the dealer for a new belt and got a tech to take a peek...Yeap pump..Trk is 5 months outta warranty but dealer replaced it anyways at their cost..2 good things came of it...It was a $1200-1500 job i didnt have to pay for,Stopped the freakin belt squeel...

The dealer said it was a U-Joint in the steering column that wasn't inatalled correctly from the factory.

check fluids, check "power steering" ... module? Light the daealership up

Ok so I guess I'm not the only one with this problem just last Friday I had the same problem .the only difference was that I was getting on the hwy it locked on me I went off the ditch bent my bumper and broke some other things . I'm feeling like I just bought my own casket my own funeral . I toke it to the dealer but they can't do anything there is no codes like give me a break . So I left and hoping it doesn't come back because im driving my kids in it the wife wont get in she is scared. I don't blame her she just finished coming off a roll over . So anyways I read up on another post it was the power steering module.

Sounds like a good place to start troubleshooting if you are having steering problems with a 2013

kinda nervous now. I just got my first truck 2013 Ram 1500 quad cab st 4x4 3.6. I really hope this doesnt happen to me....keep us updated.
