I am not planning to lift the truck, but just level it and add bigger tires. What stock wheels should I choose if I am planning to level (2 or 2.5 inch) and add bigger tires in the future?

I'm 100 % on the 18" wheels [emoji1303]

Hell I'd go with 17" wheels ( smallest you can go with your brake calipers ) if your never gonna lift , because some lift kits require 18" min for lift component clearances ..

I’m not sure if there are a lot of “ stock “ 18” wheels. Mine are and it’s a love / dislike thing at times lol.

These are the tires that I am thinking of going with.

problem with OEM 18" and 17" wheels is the width is usually 8", whereas the 20's should be 9" wide which will look better with a wider tread

These are the tires that I am thinking of going with.

That tire is too small for a 2" level IMO, heck you could put a lowering kit and run that tire, its only 32" tall

The stock 20's are 1" taller than those at 275/60R20

I was thinking the same. 275 70-18 would be the same height as the stock 20s at 33" and are a common size. For some reason the standard 20's are 33", but the off road package are 275 55-20 32" on the 5th gen. Can't argue with the Toyos though. Great tires.

Still strange to me the off road package has smaller tires. Only 1", but when it comes to going off road lower ground clearance and shorter sidewalls aren't really the conventional way of thinking.

Do we know what the difference in ride is between the 17" and 20" wheel option. Would 20" ride a bit less bumpy on our 2500.

20" would be more bumpy less bouncy if that makes sense.

It does. The larger wheel would give a us harder road ride. But would not bounce the suspension as much. I am focused on our empty ride quality with the 17". Not bad for a 3/4 ton. The 20" would be better for towing, but it sounds like we would give some ride quality.

View attachment 136796 Ok I’ve found them in the suggested size.

Look up Cooper tires.

Tried those out with my old truck with good success.
Was going to go with some Toyo MT's but the Coopers were almost ten pounds lighter but didn't compromise in tread life/ride or offroad use.
Had the STT Pros in 35's and after road force balancing them there was next to no vibration at highway speeds and it wore evenly and slowly.

I might try out the AT3 4S. They look better than they do in the stock pics online. Not too much heavier either.

Just keep a popular size wheel. The tires should b cheaper since not an oddball size. I stayed with 20’s and happy how they filled everything out

Honestly the exact model will depend on your style of driving and wants from a tire.
On my Raptor I went with the STT Pro, cause the places I offroaded it had clay, mud and soft sand. It was fine on-road, but I wouldn't recommend it if you weren't planning on offroading it.

Cooper released the At3-4s, which supposedly has improved snow traction, wet traction and has a good look and gives better offroad traction over the stockers.
They have at least 7-8 AT tires, which I guess you could narrow down based off looks or if snow is a factor where you live.

*I don't work nor know anybody at cooper tire. Just brought them up as I've noticed their prices are lower than the bigger names(toyo/nitto) and I have had good experiences with them in the past.

Here's the ones I'm planning on going with, hopefully by end of year.

One I used on the Raptor. Could pull me out of a lot of areas in just 2wd with the locker engaged.
