I recently acquired a 1977 200 adventure and I would like to get rid of the full time 4x4 anyone have any ideas on how to get this done? I was thinking I could change out everything from the ball joints out and a different t-cace. Any ideas?

So it is all wheel drive? With maybe a hi and lo? And you want it to make it 4x4 so yo can go 2 hi when you want? Or are you saying you want to go 4x2 permanently?

Strange. I only seen that on SUVs and it is called all wheel drive if you cannot disconnect the front wheels.
You need a transfer case and shifter to make it where you can go 4x4 or 4x2 on the fly. Or take out the joints on the front axle till Elk season and then reinstall them.

Mile marker used to sell a parttime kit.

My 79 Trailduster had it.

Never changed anything other than that. Gave 2hi 2 low 4 hi and 4low.

I always loved the Dodge fulltime 4x4 so I hated this mod...but I guess it gave a 1mpg gain.

The full time 4x4 is very good. I would just leave it alone. The only thing you can not do with it is a burn out.

It works great in all weather situations.

My opinion keep it.

If you decide to chanfe there are a few options. 1980 was the first year for the part time. You could do a swap from them...but they are hard to find

Also the part time trucks go to the 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern from the 5 x 4.5 found on your truck.

So if you are planning to use something newer you will have the 2 bolt patterns

If you are going to do it...to gain the most improvement, you will have to go with manual hubs...but you can keep the original setup and be fine.

I miss my 77 Powerwagon. I really miss my 77 Ramcharger.

I should have never sold them.

My 79 Trailduster was my all time favorite vehicle...i just wish it would have retained the full time instead of the part time kit.

I want to have another but the prices are through the roof.

This kit you are referring to, is for the transfer case? I have never heard of that option.

No. It changes the internals of the transfer case.

You do not need the hubs to have the t case to have 2 hi.

You could do it a couple different ways. Keep the same front end, change to manual hubs, change to a CAD axle.

But it is the kit that changes the internal transfer case parts to make it part time
