Fault code B16B7 and Brake Lamp Out Message On Dash

Hello, I have a 2015 1500 Limited that came with mostly LED's throughout with the exception of a few things. About 2 years ago I replaced the 3 incandescent bulbs in the Cargo/3rd Brake Light with LED's. I changed the settings to "LED's present" using AlfaOBD and everything worked fine. I recently replaced the 3rd Brake Light with a brand new OEM Mopar unit from an HD truck. I didn't hook up the cargo camera, just the lighting portion. It plugged right in, works fine and looks great. However, every time I start the truck and step on the brake pedal I get the "Brake Lamp Out Message On Dash" and code B16B7. I've checked and all of the brake lights are working as they should. I also went back into AlfaOBD and double checked the settings and cleared the trouble code. Every time I step on the brake pedal the code comes back. Any ideas?

I have this same issue. I believe it to be related to the LEDs in the lamp itself, although I haven't forked over the money for a replacement to check. I have gone through and disabled the lamp checks in AlfaOBD, cleared the codes, and the DTC resurfaces instantly. Not sure what the lamp check options are for then...
My white LEDs in the unit work fine. The red LEDs are/were dim/individually intermittent. Double check that ALL the red LEDs are working all the time. I didn't know mine was faulty until I had someone follow me and observe. 2014 3500 Limited SRW. Sidenote: Is your truck from Canada by chance?
