Never had an issue with car washes fogging backup camera but I guess now is it for the 15. Guess what I’m inquiring about is if I should go for an OEM Mopar or if you guys have had luck with cheaper alternatives. As far as changing it, seems pretty straight forward and I may be able to do it without messing with the latch assembly. But yes again, Mopar, or have others had success with cheaper versions?

Tried the cheaper knock off one time and the OEM was a far better picture, Also, if you like the active parking lines some of the knock off's won't play nice with them.
Appreciate the response as it’s a 15 and maybe time to replace it, just never had problem till I did the undercarriage auto wash consistently

Yeah, the spray car wash got mine, too.

I was actually able to open mine up and clean lens, dehumidify and reseal it. Still works to this day
You take it out and get it dry in the same day? How did you go about drying it out?

Removed the back cover, wrapped in cheese cloth and put in bowl of rice for a day. Then on a 100 degree oven for an hour. when re-assembling, put fine coating of dielectric grease on the gasket to ensure a good reseal.

Been working fine for a couple of years now.

Hmm I’m surprised the oven worked and didn’t melt anything…. Maybe I take mine apart today as it’s all fogged to ****. I know other have done the rise and then rtv’d it

Oven was only at 100 deg F. Seen it higher here in the summer and didn't melt anything

Fair point I tried rice as mine was corroded and didn’t realize that was a little Philips in back. Also had a stripped t30 so that’s fun paying what I did for one bolt with shipping.

FYI about PNs if you go with an OEM camera (not a Chinese knock off one that says "... for Ram" ).

The newer PN has been reported to work on the older 13-17 trucks and supposedly has better contrast at night
Original equipment (OE, Factory Order) rear view camera equipped trucks replacement camera

2013 - 2015: PN: 56038978AL (edit: up to 2017 originally w/RAx radios)

2016 - 2024 classic PN: 68644913AA supercedes 68274731AE (edit: ie used w/2018+ UAx radios)
