I have a 1997 Ram 2500 with a 5.9 gas engine. I recently rebuilt it with new bearings, new rings, new heads. Also replaced the distributor, coil, wires, plugs, throttle position sensor...I am getting frustrated as no one seams to be able to tell me why, when I am at low rpm (under 2200) and I give it some gas, it "pops" like a backfire or a miss. Once i reach higher rpm the pop will not occur.(when on the highway in overdrive it randomly pops, but shut overdrive off and pop goes away)The engine had this problem before the rebuild, but at had very low compression which is what triggered the rebuild. I have ran injector cleaner through a couple of times. Wondering if a bad injector could cause this, if so how can i test them? Bad cam position sensor? bad crank position sensor? please help!!! Local dodge mechanic seams to be baffled..
