I’m looking to replace the current 17” spare on my 2019 1500 Classic with a 20” spare. Long story short, I’ve got a brand new 20” hankook I don’t want going to waste and the 17” factory spares, although full size, have pitiful tread. When/if I get another flat Id like a superior spare tire to use. The problem is the regular 20” rims have too small of a center hole so the toggle on the end of the cable that holds the spare won’t fit through it. basically need to find a steel rim meant to be a spare. I know some of the older (3rd gen?) RAMs had 20” spares but don’t know if the offset is compatible with my truck, which is 19.

Basically wondering if what I want even exists.... 20x8 spare rim 5x5.5 bolt pattern with 19mm offset. And if it does, where to buy one.

You can buy a 20" steel rim right from your MOPAR dealer.

My truck has 20" wheels but came with a 17" donut spare, which would be useless if I got a flat towing my travel trailer.

Many higher end trucks come with a 20" spare under the bed.

It will even fit in its original location with 34" tire as that is what I put on mine.

Here is what it looks like.

Thanks for the link. I didn’t really want to spend that much. I’ve found several of the 20” steel spares from 3rd gen Rams in junk yards for under $100 and I honestly can’t figure out why they wouldn’t work on my 4th gen.

^^^ I don't blame you. I am pretty sure I didn't pay that much for mine last winter.

3rd gen wheels will fit on a 4th gen from what I have seen.

They were not an option for me as wreckers here are picked clean and never have what I am looking for.

Interesting just went thru this, mine truck is a 2018 tradesman came with 17's I put Ram 20's on it I think from a warlock got a 20 ram spare. Anyway center hole was 2 small. I cut a slot in the bracket. That bracket is pretty heavy duty. I don't for see a strength issue.20in spare.jpg

I did the same thing, replaced the 17" spare wheel with the "temporary" spare tire to a used 20" steel wheel. I found mine in a wheel scrap yard in Spokane for a reasonable price. As others have said steel wheels from the 3rd gens will work. The center hole in the aluminum wheels are too small for the for spare wheel lift piece.
