2002 Dodge Ram 3500 suddenly can not go into gear nv4500

hello all, hope someone can give me an idea of where to began to look or things i can do before im lead to having to split the motor and tranny. i have an 2002 ram 3500, has the 5.9 magnum matted to a 5 speed nv4500. truck has only around 34k original miles. its a work truck and maybe gets used twice in a month locally and some times it just sits. today i went to back up it went into reverse no issues, turn around and went in first gear no issues. stopped at the end of the drive way (in neutral) looked both ways and then i got nothing. cannot go into any gear or reverse. my clutch pedal did not give out or fall to the floor, no leaks, resvoir full so nothing of that nature. very frustrating. i would also like to add that in the times past it was driven especially 2 days ago, i had a load of shingles to take to the landfill and i did not had any issues shifting or anything, no grinding no noises. so im very confused. any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

update: i removed the sl4ve cylinder to take a peak inside with a amazon chinese scope camera but its terrible to see with the little lighting. i do feel the clutch fork and it has movment i would say around 1 inch from being firmly pulled out to where it bottoms out pushed back in. is that normal??. anything will help i this point. i know this truck is not brand new despite low mileage, things still wear and tear. this is all original but it sat alot but i just cannot see a clutch going out without having symptoms for awhile now. if im wrong please let me know. seemed smooth sailing then nothing.

my truck, a 2003 5.9 cummins with the nv4500, is doing basically the same thing. The truck was gifted to my son by his great grandfather. It has mostly been used once a week to take a load to the dump (maybe a 10 mile round trip). The truck only has around 34K miles too. We picked it up and drove it cross country without issue. Then the next day we went to use it and it decided it didn't want to get out of 2nd gear so we parked it. When we tried it again later, it wouldn't shift into any gear.... won't move or anything.
