Hi
In a few days I'm going to install a set of pacesetter Longtube headers. I have a few about my exhaust set up...

My ram only have has one cat and one set of O2 sensors (before and after the single cat). I want to run cats and my question is can I run the pacesetter off road Y-pipe into my cat I already have, if I open the cat up to 3 inches? :superhack:

Also I already had LT headers on my truck before and I took them off because I didn't have a Y-pipe. I also couldn't get a shop to make me one because they didn't know where the O2 and cats went. (came in without exhaust but still had everything) I also need my truck so I just ended up putting my old exhaust manifolds back on my truck:Stupid Me:

My other problem was the headers were really close to my gas and brake lines, should I wrap the lines in heat wrap or should I just wrap the headers? I live in Washington and it's a little rainy, I'm a little worried about them rusting/ pitting.

If anybody has any idea or have pictures of they did what would be awesome! :) Thanks in advance!
Colton

Yes you can run the PS ORY into your cat. Look for some cool tape. Wrap any wires or lines that are close to the headers. I def wouldn't wrap the headers. They will rust faster.

Use the coated headers, the off road Y is not coated but you can keep high temp paint on it pretty good. Yes you can reuse your stock cat just have it opened up or run a spun aftermarket cat. Looking at your sig toss in a 180* Tstat to fatten up the mix alill to be on the safe side.

Okay awesome! I'm going to order a ORY, get some high heat paint for it and get some wrap for the wires/ lines. I'll also look into a 180 Tstat!

Thanks again guys!

I am going to do the same in near future. Now as far as long tubes and the law (specifically in Cali), I guess it's a no go

How difficult is it to install retaining the cat and with an ory, honestly? I'd go with shorties for various reasons, but I am not sure if that's even worth it.

Well shortys are nice but they simply dont add the power the longtubes do. As far as retaining the cat in stock configuration its kind of a challenge but then again not really. Simply modify the ory to house the cat but if i member right youll need two cats for this
You could put it at the end of ory but thats nowhere near stock location and youll fail inpsection (eapecially in cali).
If your in cal man id just suggest mid pipes or shortys. Its gonna be interesting driving in cali come mid december...may get pulles over a lot lol

That's just the thing, I need to decide what to do, I am Cali bound. Still learning about this stuff.Moving the cat probably guarantees inspection failure. There was a nice thread somewhere on this subject with good pics..maybe this forum, by the dude with the silver truck hah I forgot his name. Maybe he will chime in.
Shortys will have to do then, I guess, better than the stockers.

Ps I apologize if it seems like I am hi jacking the thread. Not trying to

For the op, this was right after install of headers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph3bso1vrW4&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Also get you some stage 8 locking header bolts (ps they are a ***** to get on) and get some mopar gaskets. Moesperfomance sells em for a good price.

And to hemibjorn, if your cali bound (assuming you mean moving there) dont take the risk cali is so strict on their **** its not even funny, my 01 failed inspection cause it had a k&n aftermarket intake set up on it...

I'm out in the Tacoma/Olympia area, so pretty far away man. I bet it's super throaty without cats! haha I don't really want the cops to love me

When I put them on before I had stage 8 locking bolts, they were more of a ***** to get off then putting them on :p I also got some more header gasket from the dodge dealership :)

Yes, moving. So you reckon shortys won't fly either? Damn. As far as intakes go, I think you need it stickered "carb approved" or wtf ever, this is where most smaller or newer companies "fail" as they need to get their product approved for each specific make and model- takes resources and money. Cali are nazis when it comes to vehicles of 1974 and newer. All for a good reason though. But still.
The dB levels and their local laws are bs, however. Oh well, at least I wouldn't give them a reason to stop me with my 24" Gibson. It's rather low key until you step on it just a lil more haha

03's can use a single cat if it and the muffler are moved rear ward. You can also use dual cats placing them in the front section of the ORY placing them pretty much over the trans cross member. This requires the ORY pipes to be cut the length of the cats. Shield any wires close to the pipes.

Thanks Greg! Did you have any codes moving the cats and did you have to use non foulers?

I have two magnaflow highflow cats I could use but I heard that are stock/OEM cats better then most aftermarket highflow cats. Should I run the two magnaflow cats or just run the ORY into my one stock cat if I open the cat and modify the ORY a little bit?

I don't have codes and I used two Magnaflow spun cats. I also have a matched pair of 03 cats I was going to use but they were bigger than I wanted to use. Space is a little restricted above the cross member.

Here is a pair I have cut to take 3" pipes without restriction, IMO nothing out flows these. And they are for Sale as a pair only.
