So I'm thinking about replacing my factory cd player. It's on the fritz and makes a bunch of noise like it's trying to eject a CD.

I was reading that some rams have a factory amp that needs to be bypassed. Does the 03 have the factory amp?

Depends on whether you have the Infinity sound system that year or not. Assume you are looking at aftermarket?

If the OP has a 2003 RAM 1500 Quad Cab then he has the Infinity system along with the amplifier. The Infinity system was standard on the 2002-2003 Quad Cabs. In 2004 the 4 speaker system became the standard equipment.
