2005-2012 two casting for TBs

here are pics of two different throttle bodies for 2005-2012 Ram Hemi.
im guessing they both bolt up the same and both have the slotted connector but why did dodge do two different casting for them?

Definate difference in the two, why, dunno, you can see the diffs for sure (6o'clock casting and electronics plate maybe) but like you say maybe a mid year change somewhere along the line and now your Vin determines which one, great question, and no real good answer here.....lol.....maybe Matt knows!

Edit: Probably just run the two numbers on the side in the Mopar system?
