I am needing to replace both my front fenders on my 2010 1500. Both are rusted off at the bottom bolts. Part number is 68054338AI for the right side. I have a local painter that said if I can buy them on the internet, he would spray a rustproof paint on the inside and then paint them to match my truck. He said to buy CAPA certified fenders. So my question is, I can find them anywhere from $108.00 / on Carparts.com to over $700 on other sites. I feel like the $108.00 are cheap, but I have no way to know that and I feel like $700 is way over priced. Rock Auto has them for $240.00. Can anyone give me some advice on any sites that are better than others?

If you were to save $600 on them and get the cheap ones and paint the backsides.....would it matter the quality?

I know most guys say the cheap body parts tend to rust out but what if you painted them front and back?

You’d save a lot of $$$ if that would work....but I’m not a bodywork expert.

Thanks for the imput.. I am in no way an expert so I appreciate your reply. Your point makes sense, assuming it protects it like you would think. I had heard that there is a thin and a little thicker fender.. I have no idea if their is any truth to it or not or if it really matters.

I did a few months back. I had ordered them on Amazon. Came less than ideal but took them to the paint / body guy and he straightened them up and painted. A little tighter fit when installing than I had guessed but finally was able to get all the body lines to match up pretty close and still be able to open the doors without them rubbing. I put on the front set of splash guards I had in my garage and should have installed 5 years ago to keep 90% if road from off

Listen fellas. I am an Autobody tech and what I would do is go to your local aftermarket body supply store and buy a pair. Then after you have them painted- hoping they match the door colour- then scuff- red Scotchbrite pads-the insides of painted fenders then spray them liberally with some good black undercoating. Don't forget to mask the edges of the fenders as to not get any overspray onto the painted side. Let sit for a good 1 hr or so then they should be good to handle to re-install on to truck. Gen 4 fenders are really easy to Remove and Replace. There might be 10 or so 10mm bolts holding each fender on the truck itself. On the driver's side there are 2 13mm bolts that hold the battery tray in-place ontop of the fender edge They just have to be loosened enough to get the fender out/in again. Easy Peasy..... Good luck with the swap.
