Here's the rub, those are MAX. Everything beyond a full tank of gas and 300lbs for driver and passenger is going against that tow rating. My truck is 750lbs over door sticker weight with my small family and crap we pack along. Don't forget, the weight of the hitch counts against you too

15-20% of that camper weight will be on the pin, overloading your coil suspension.

Then you need to consider frontal area. A tall and wide camper will tow a lot harder than flatbed with pipe.

Is that 14-15k unladen weight or gross? 100 gallons of water weighs 836lbs.

If you care to look, many RV enthusiasts will recommend having 20% cushion on towing numbers. As you get moved in and fill out the stuff you need or want to take with the weights really start to add up. I maxed out my 2500 6.4l with a toy hauler that has a brochure empty weight of 8300. First trip I was about had 1000 lbs to spare on GCWR, last trip with it I scaled right at my gross. We had added that much stuff.

Will it pull 14-15k? You bet. But it isn't going to like it and you likely won't either. It will constantly shift down, probably run in 4th on flat, and get terrible economy.

IMO, you are firmly in diesel territory looking at 14-15k campers.

When I pull always by myself and we always bring our other truck.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of is I'd end up in diesel territory

Agreed, the 5.7 is rated at 13, but like I said, 11k on hills, and she's working. Perhaps a slightly older Cummins?

Unfortunately the best towing diesel I have found in older trucks is the brand that starts with an f its the 6.0. All older Cummins I haven't seen anything touch it

Yeah cause again I would love to get Cummins hands down always loved how they performed but the price some ppl want is hard to swallow.

Yes I do have all these other profiles been doing research on all brands trying to find the best in which suits me and my needs.

Also Colorado was to have a good little work truck and just have a truck to tow my trailer with. I apologize if I'm not allowed to find information about other brands on forums

Do I also get judged for owning a Honda, and having an Expedition as well?

What ever the case may be, you won't have many people recommend using a gas 3/4 ton of any brand to tow a 15k fifth wheel.

Yeah I guess what just confused me is I would look up tow capacities from ram and it would say one thing and then y'all informed me otherwise

I have a 2011 5.7 2500 Outdoorsman with 4.10's and I pull occasionally with it. Nothing close to 10k. More like 3-5,000lbs.

I get 8-9mpg when towing and 11-13mpg empty in town and on the Hwy. We do have hills where I go when towing. Otherwise it's flatter than Kate Hudsons chest.

Buy the 6.4 is you want something that will tow that load decently. Buy a 6.7 if you wanna do it right. I wouldn't suggest the 5.7. I'm trying to trade up as we speak.
