Hello again,

So i have started my hemi not a long time ago.

I am getting horrible MPG. 8! 8!!! MPG arount town.

Running RC lift kit ans 37inch tires on 20s, but anyway, it seems too low for me.

What can i start from to increase MPG??

Get rid of kit and ditch the 37’s. I know that’s prolly not great advice but that’s the best way to get mpg back. 37’, lift and fuel back. Another option is correct the gearing, tuner cai and drive it like a baby.

I dont want to remove the tirea and lift kit and i think that 8 MPG is too low even for that. I was getting the same on wrangler and chaged o2 sensor and got more then 15 mpg.
So i am new to ram and wanted to know if there is some issues about o2 or other think, which causes the truck to get low MPG...

Is it throwing any codes? Running rough? Have you had all fluids serviced? 2011. How many miles on it?

164k miles, runs perfect, no codes, no rough idle or anything.

Air, fuel filter, spark plug change maybe will help?

If you have not had calibrated for 37 inch tires your speedometer, odometer & gas mileage will not be correct.

I do not know if it is calibrated. I have bought the truck as it is. So maybe the odo says 8 mpg but actually it gets 10?

Download a speedometer on your phone. Set cruise on highway. Compare and see how far you are off. Will tell you if it's calibrated

Ouch. With 37's you might as well drill a hole in your tank. The weight of those tires alone probably took a huge bite out of it, then you add on surface area, so on and so forth.

Look into gears, or drop the 37's. Those are some pretty huge boots to run on stock gearing and tune.

I agree with almost everyone else that has commented.
Make sure your speedometer is accurate.
Find out what gear ratio you currently have in the the truck. If you do not want to change your tire size, you most likely need lower gears.
Consider dropping from 37” tires to 35”

My Ram 1500 with 33.5” tires gets low fuel mileage around town also. Somewhere around 10-11mpg. I have 3.92 gears. On the highway I’ll get 17mpg

The MPG you are getting makes sense. The truck has the older transmission. And you don’t seem to be doing any highway driving. 37’s, a huge lift and winter time. Never going to see any decent MPG in that truck. Even if the speedo is calibrated correctly the trucks computer is usually off by an MPG or so.

If you had a Jeep getting 15 it is a completely different vehicle. The V6 is never going to be as thirsty as the Hemi. Also take into account overall weight of the vehicle, axle ratios, physics etc.

You just can’t go into a truck with 37s and expect decent MPG. 15 city/town is what you should go in expecting out of a stock Hemi Ram.

Having a truck with a 6 inch lift and 35’s I can tell you your numbers are probably correct for mpg, city driving I’m getting anywhere from 11 to 12 miles a gallon. And you having 37’s weight a decent amount more than my 35s. You are trying to turn a whole Lotta mass. It also depends on where you live how hilly your roads are.

I have 4.56 gears in mine on 35’s. I get around 15-16 highway and 12-13 city. My injectors and O2’s have 230k+ on them so that is my next replacements.

The gears help a lot. The tune does too :)

I agree with a lot of what everyone else has said. With speedo cibrated your probably getting 10mpg. Considering you have the older transmission, only drive city and have 37's, the 10ish range sounds about right .

Stock 2011 here with 105,000 miles....gets about 280 per tank, mostly city driving.

Recently had a O2 sensor go...and oh boy there was a noticable drop in mpgs. Was barely breaking 200 miles per tank.

Costs a lot of $$$$ to look cool.

My 11 Sport has the screen in the dash. It has a GPS speedo/odor built in. You have a screen on the dash?

I stayed with 31”, but heavier tires probably lost 1.5 mpg. I have Bilsteins up front with the clip 2nd from the top. That probably didn’t do me any favors either.

Thank you for your replies. I dont think the speedo has to be calibrated because with the GPS, the speedo shows nearly the same numbers.

The truck has not been started for maybe 6 months or so. So i am expecting some improvement im MPGs. I also was not driving slowly and actually, I filled up today and with 41 litres i have driven nearly 200 KM (calculated with the google maps) and maybe it is not as bad.

Oh, and the JEEP thing, it is a disaster in MPGs, for I6 4.0 the auto got 7 MPG :D and i converted to manual and got 13-14 MPG.

So maybe i will change the gearing, but in my country, it's impossible and have to buy the parts from USA. Where can i get the information what i need to regear? For example: regearing the jeep from 3.07 to 3.73 needed the new carrier, but from 3.07 to 3.54 the carrier is not needed. So where can i get the info about these truck regearing?

PS. I loved the truck, drive very smooth, and dang, it is quick as hell :D
